Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon, designated a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 1997, is an impressive fortress that showcases the science and architecture of the 18th century. Other signature attractions include Everland, a major theme park in Yongin; Korean Folk Village, where traditional Korean life is vividly recreated; and Imjingak and the DMZ in Paju, where visitors can learn about the reality of the Korean Peninsula’s division.
