Yongin Dae Jang Geum Park Is Not an Actual Palace but an MBC Filming Facility
Yongin Dae Jang Geum Park is a filming facility owned by MBC. It is introduced as an open set where historical dramas, modern dramas, films, and commercials can be filmed, with semi-permanent sets reflecting the architectural styles and living spaces of the Three Kingdoms period, Goryeo period, and Joseon period.
The Dae Jang Geum set is a commemorative set newly created by relocating part of a set from the Yangju Cultural Complex in Gyeonggi Province. The drama Dae Jang Geum was produced as a special project commemorating MBC's 40th anniversary and aired from September 2003 through March of the following year.
Among the 22 Areas, Start with the Dae Jang Geum Set and the Market Street
The official map shows 22 major set areas. These include the Dae Jang Geum set, Choe U's Residence, the government office, the market street, the police office and prison, Muryangsujeon and Anyangnu, Injeongjeon, Dongji Pond, Bopyeongjeon, Mangyeongjeon, and Gyujanggak.
Behind Donggungjeon and Junggungjeon are Yeolseongak, the Inspection Bureau, Misil Palace, and Misil's Quarters, followed by Hyeminseo, the fortress walls, the Bureau of Weapons, the Four-Direction Water Station, and the training ground. Choe U's Residence is a major setting of the drama God of War, set against the military regime of the Goryeo period. The government office is described as a traditional residence of a Joseon-era yangban, while the police office is introduced as a Joseon-era police station and the prison as a place where criminals were detained.
Muryangsujeon and Anyangnu are buildings modeled after Muryangsujeon at Buseoksa Temple in Yeongju, dating from the Goryeo period. The training ground is introduced as a place where martial-arts practice scenes are filmed in historical dramas, so it is more suitable to walk while considering the relationship between period-specific living spaces and filming scenes rather than simply viewing the buildings.
From March to October, Hours Are 09:00–18:00, with Admission Ending One Hour Earlier
Official operating hours are 09:00–18:00 from March through October and 09:00–17:00 from November through February. Admission is allowed only until one hour before closing, so the last admission time is 17:00 in the warmer months and 16:00 in the colder months.
The park is closed on Lunar New Year's Day, and operating hours on Chuseok Day are 10:00–18:00. A standard visit takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes for adults, so during the winter season you should arrive well before the final admission time to avoid having to rush through all 22 areas.
Adult Admission Is 11,000 Won, with Group Discounts for Groups of 20 or More
Admission is 11,000 won for adults, 9,000 won for teenagers, and 9,000 won for children. Infants from birth through preschool age enter free of charge. Groups of 20 or more receive a discount of 2,000 won per person.
When a welfare card holder receives a discount, one accompanying guardian is admitted free of charge. From Seoul, Travel via Giheung Station, the EverLine, Undongjang, and Songdamdae Station
When traveling from Seoul by public transportation, the official route is to transfer to the EverLine at Giheung Station, get off at Undongjang or Songdamdae Station, and travel to Forbes Hospital Bus Stop. Bus 105 then operates toward Baegam.
Bus 105 is operated by Gyeongnam Passenger and runs 10 times a day. Stops on the route include Baegam 4-ri Senior Center, Baegam, Baegam-myeon Community Service Center, the entrance to Baegam Market, Jangpyeonggyo Bridge, the entrance to the mental hospital, Yongcheon 2-ri, and Jungni 2. For actual service inquiries, call 031-251-3721. Since the bus runs only 10 times daily, plan to match your departure with the timetable.
Park in Front of the Ticket Office and Walk 2–3 Minutes to the Entrance
The address is 25 Yongcheon Drama-gil, Baegam-myeon, Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, and the lot-number address is 778-1 Yongcheon-ri, Baegam-myeon, Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do. Visitors arriving by car must use the parking lot in front of the ticket office. The upper parking area is reserved for work vehicles and filming vehicles and cannot be used by general visitors.
It takes approximately 2–3 minutes to walk from the parking lot in front of the ticket office to the entrance, and no separate parking fee is charged. Since the official information does not provide the total site area or the number of parking spaces, visitors should not expect to park in the upper area on days when many filming vehicles are present.
Learn About Areas Being Filmed and the Limitations of the Outdoor Sets in Advance
Some sets may be unavailable to visitors during drama filming. Therefore, even after purchasing an admission ticket, do not assume that you will be able to see the interiors of every building or every filming area. Areas with access-restriction signs cannot be entered.
The set facilities are temporary structures rather than sturdy buildings like ordinary architecture. Do not apply excessive force to the stairs or railings or put your full weight on them. At night, visits are restricted because there are no lighting facilities and accidents may occur. Outdoor-set viewing may also be restricted for safety reasons on days with typhoons, torrential rain, or strong winds.
Check the Pet and Smoking Regulations Before Entry
Ordinary pets are not allowed, with guide dogs for people with visual impairments and assistance dogs for people with hearing impairments being exceptions. Flammable items such as lighters and matches may not be carried.
Smoking is permitted only in designated areas; all other areas are smoke-free. The official information does not separately specify wheelchair or stroller-accessible areas, whether English information or audio guides are available, whether payment is cash-only, or detailed rules on photography restrictions.
