Must-Visit Places

In Gongju, the second capital of Baekje, you can explore Gongsanseong Fortress and the Tomb of King Muryeong. In Buyeo, the kingdom’s final capital, Baekje historic sites such as Busosanseong Fortress still remain. In summer, the Boryeong Mud Festival, popular with international visitors, takes place at Daecheon Beach, while Taean is known for its stunning beaches in Taean Haean National Park.

Spring and fall are ideal for walking around the historic sites in Gongju and Buyeo, while summer is perfect for beach trips to Taean and Boryeong. In winter, planning your trip around hot springs and seafood makes for a highly satisfying getaway.

If you're departing from Seoul or Daejeon, some itineraries in Taean, Boryeong, and Seosan can be done as a day trip. However, if you want enough time to enjoy the sunset, beaches, and local markets, a 1-night, 2-day trip is a better option.

Gongju and Buyeo are accessible by bus, but public transportation to beaches and natural attractions may run infrequently. If your itinerary connects multiple cities along the West Coast, driving or renting a car is recommended.
