Ulsan, Where Industry and Nature Coexist
Ulsan is one of Korea’s leading industrial cities, but it also offers striking natural attractions where rivers, the sea, and bamboo forests come together.
Places You Shouldn’t Miss
Taehwagang National Garden, designated as a national garden in 2019, is best known for its 4 km-long bamboo grove. Ganjeolgot Cape, famous as one of the first places in Korea to see the sunrise, and Daewangam Park, home to a suspension bridge, are both popular sunrise spots. The prehistoric Bangudae Petroglyphs are also well worth a visit.
Travel Tips
With several sunrise attractions located close together, Ulsan is especially popular for New Year’s trips. It’s ideal for a one-day itinerary combining a walk through the bamboo grove with visits to scenic coastal spots.

Yes. If you're coming from Busan or Gyeongju, Ulsan can be done as a day trip. However, if you want to visit Ganjeolgot, Daewangam, and Taehwagang all in one trip, an overnight stay gives you a more relaxed schedule.
Ganjeolgot Cape is one of Korea’s most famous sunrise spots, and Daewangam Park is also a great place to watch the sun come up over the sea. Since you’ll need to travel early in the morning, it’s best to check your accommodation location and transportation options in advance.
In central Ulsan and around the Taehwagang area, buses and taxis are convenient. If you plan to visit coastal attractions and sights on the outskirts as well, public transportation can take longer, so renting a car or using taxis is worth considering.
