Good to Know

Most shops, cafés, restaurants, and convenience stores accept both credit and debit cards, so there’s usually no need to carry much cash.

That said, having a small amount of cash can be handy in situations like these:

- Some stalls in traditional markets
- Buying street food
- Certain small independent shops

You can also withdraw cash at the airport, banks, or convenience store ATMs.
Seoul has an excellent subway and bus system, so you can reach most tourist attractions using public transportation alone.

Recommended tips:

- Buy a transportation card (T-money)
- Use the subway as your main way of getting around
- Take buses for shorter distances

With one transportation card, you can use both the subway and buses, and you’ll also get transfer discounts.
Seoul has many attractions you can enjoy without paying an admission fee.

- Bukchon Hanok Village — stroll through traditional hanok alleyways
- Cheonggyecheon Stream — a scenic walking route in the heart of the city
- Hangang Park — ideal for picnics and night views
- Gwanghwamun Square — one of Seoul’s signature landmarks and cultural spaces

Spring and autumn are especially great seasons to experience Seoul’s charm simply by exploring on foot.
