The Story Behind the 207 m Bridge Opened in July 2009
Cheonjangho Suspension Bridge opened in July 2009 and is 207 m long. Chungnam Tourism introduces it as a site certified in 2017 as having the longest length in Korea, so the focus is on experiencing the bridge itself sway rather than simply crossing the lake.
The bridge piers are decorated with models of chili peppers and goji berries, local specialties of Cheongyang County. Around the bridge are statues of a yellow dragon and a tiger, as well as a magic 3D photo zone, making it easy to plan a photography route. The activities indicated are walking and taking photographs.

Cheonjangho Wishing Rock and the Legend of the Yellow Dragon and Tiger
The storytelling elements presented on site are the legend of the yellow dragon and tiger, along with the Wishing Rock. The Wishing Rock is also called the Conception Rock, so rather than simply crossing the bridge and returning, it is easier to understand the layout of the site by also exploring the surrounding area with its statues and legend information.
An ecological park and lakeside walking paths have been developed around Cheonjangho Lake. Official information also introduces a walking route leading to Alps Village along the “Sky Road to the Alps,” and the suspension bridge became known through the television program “2 Days & 1 Night.”

09:00–18:00 Access and Friday–Sunday Night Opening
The Chungnam Tourism official page lists daytime hours as 09:00–18:00 and states that the site is open year-round. The same information notes night opening every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday: until 21:00 from March to October and until 20:00 from November to February.
However, other public information lists operating hours as 08:00–22:00, so the times differ. For visit planning, it is safest to use 09:00–18:00 as the standard hours and, after matching the season and day of the week, inquire about nighttime access by calling 041-940-4862 or the Cheonjangho management office at 041-940-2723. Operations may change due to severe weather or construction.

Free Admission, Parking Information, and Details Unavailable on Site
Chungnam Tourism information states that admission and parking are free, but it is advisable to check the latest information before visiting. Parking facilities are also indicated, but the number of available spaces and the exact walking distance from the parking area to the suspension bridge could not be confirmed in the public information.
There is also no information about whether photography is prohibited, whether payment is cash-only, or whether English information and audio guides are available. Therefore, there is no need to regard it as a paid attraction requiring passage through a ticket booth, but on-site conditions regarding photography and foreign-language information should be checked separately. Restrooms are indicated as available.

From Cheongyang Intercity Bus Terminal to Cheonjang-ri Bus Stop
For public transportation, first use Cheongyang Intercity Bus Terminal as the starting point. The official Cheongyang County guidance recommends taking the Cheongyang–Jeongsan (Jeongsan) bus, getting off at Cheonjang-ri Bus Stop, and walking to the Cheonjangho parking area. It is best to confirm bus operations with Cheongyang Transportation at 041-942-2788 or 041-942-2799.
For drivers coming from Cheongyang Interchange, the indicated route is to turn right toward Jeongsan at Hagam Three-way Intersection and continue straight for 3.9 km. The address is 24-23 Cheonjanghori, Jeongsan-myeon, Cheongyang-gun, Chungcheongnam-do. There is on-site parking, making access easy for travelers by car, but the current applicability of the free parking information should be confirmed with the management office.

0.77 km Beyond the Parking Area: The Actual Incline of Chilgapsan Cheonjang-ro
According to Cheongyang County information, the distance from the Cheonjangho parking area, across the suspension bridge, to the entrance of the hiking trail is 0.77 km. From the parking area to the suspension bridge, a walking path approximately 15 m wide runs toward the center of the lake, so visitors should not assume that the bridge appears immediately after getting out of the car.
If you continue onto Chilgapsan Cheonjang-ro, the difficulty increases from the beginning. After the suspension bridge, you pass a steep 130 m section that rises 71 m in elevation and reach a fork. From the fork to the start of the ridge trail, the route rises another 278 m over 2.4 km. From the start of the ridge trail to the summit is 0.8 km, and the summit stands at 561 m.

90-Minute Cheonjang-ro Trail and the 561 m Chilgapsan Summit
The Chilgapsan Cheonjang-ro hiking course from Cheonjangho Suspension Bridge is listed as taking 1 hour and 30 minutes. The remaining distance from Cheonjang-ro to the Chilgapsan summit is 3.2 km, while the distance from the start of the ridge trail to the summit is 0.8 km, so visiting the suspension bridge and hiking to the summit should not be treated as one short walk.
Chilgapsan was designated a provincial park on March 6, 1973, and covers 32.542 ㎢. On clear days, the West Sea can be seen from the summit; Gyeryongsan is visible to the southeast and Oseosan Mountain in Boryeong to the northwest. Add the hike only when you can set aside sufficient time and energy.

Two Restrictions Wheelchair Travelers Should Know First
Cheongyang County accessibility information marks the area around Cheonjangho Suspension Bridge as inaccessible to wheelchair users, and no wheelchairs are available on site. The existence of a walking path approximately 15 m wide is separate from whether it is wheelchair-accessible, so wheelchair and stroller users should not assume that reaching the suspension bridge is a feasible route.
No official recommended viewing time has been confirmed for visiting only the suspension bridge and nearby walking areas. One review mentions that it took about 20 minutes to reach the hiking-course entrance from the parking area, while another guide summarizes the suspension bridge visit and nearby walk as approximately 30–40 minutes, or about 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours if the lakeside loop is included. If combined with the Hongjuseong Millennium Travel Route, the journey is 41 km by car and takes approximately 48 minutes.
