“Heokkeugok Modakchigok,” the title of the exhibition, is a Jeju expression meaning to become mixed together and gather, while “Iyahong” is the refrain of the Jeju folk song Iyahong Taryeong. At the Jeju Museum of Art, the exhibition addresses exile and the visual language of Chusa Kim Jeong-hui; at the O Baek Jang-gun Gallery, basalt and stone culture; and at three old-downtown venues, Jeju mythology and polytheistic culture. A Route Linking Bus 465, a Four-Minute Walk from Gwandeokjeong, and the Old Downtown

Since Jeju has no subway stations or exits, it was more convenient to get around using bus stop names as landmarks. From bus stop 6 at Jeju International Airport, take bus 465 or 466, get off at the Jeju Museum of Art entrance, and walk for 9 minutes. The O Baek Jang-gun Gallery at Jeju Stone Park is located at 2023, Namjo-ro, Jocheon-eup, Jeju-si. From airport bus stop 1, take bus 131, get off at the Jeju Stone Park bus stop, and walk for 6 minutes; a public parking lot is also available. In the old downtown, Jeju Art Platform is at 18, Jungang-ro 14-gil, Art Space IA is at 21, Jungang-ro 14-gil, and Gallery Remicon is at 31, Sanji-ro. Jeju Art Platform and Art Space IA are each a 4-minute walk from the Gwandeokjeong bus stop, while Remicon is 1 minute from the Tamna Plaza and Jeju Women and Family Research Institute bus stops, so it should be fine to take a leisurely walk after getting off the bus in the old-downtown section.

Jeju Art Platform has a 46-space parking lot on basement levels 1 and 2, and Art Space IA has dedicated parking behind the building. Gallery Remicon uses the Buksugu Public Parking Lot across the street, which is paid. Six Minutes to the O Baek Jang-gun Gallery and an 83-Day Exhibition: How to Take Your Time

The main drawback is that the exhibition venues are not concentrated in one location. To visit the Jeju Museum of Art, Jeju Stone Park in Jocheon, and all three old-downtown areas of Jeju City, you should allow as much travel time as viewing time. In particular, bus 131 from the airport to Stone Park and buses 465 and 466 to the museum depart from different stops, so if you plan to connect the two places on the same day, it would be wise to mark the bus stops on your map in advance.

In the old downtown, Jeju Art Platform, Art Space IA, and Gallery Remicon are located at 18, Jungang-ro 14-gil, 21, Jungang-ro 14-gil, and 31, Sanji-ro, respectively, making them easy to combine on foot; Gwandeokjeong and Dongmun Market are also nearby. As of August 10, 2026, before the opening, it was difficult to find detailed docent schedules, restroom locations, wheelchair rentals, or busy times for each venue in the public information. Instead, planning your route around the parking information already available—46 spaces at Jeju Art Platform, dedicated parking at IA, and the Buksugu Public Parking Lot across from Remicon—should make the trip less rushed. Transformations by 69 Artists or Teams: Travelers I Would Recommend the Jeju Biennale To

This exhibition would suit friends who want to slowly follow the connections among a Jeju word, stones, exile, and mythology rather than quickly checking off famous works. By dividing the work of 69 artists or teams into three subthemes and connecting the museum, park, and old downtown, it allows visitors to reflect not only on contemporary art but also on the memories held by Jeju’s places.

For me, the refrain “Iyahong” stayed with me the longest. It is an unfamiliar word, but after reading the official explanation, its meaning—that scattered things meet and become something new—becomes clear. Foreign friends who want to remember Jeju not only through sea views but also by connecting, scene by scene, Chusa’s place of exile, basalt, and the stories of Seolmundae Halmang may want to include this long-running exhibition in their itinerary between August 25 and November 15.
