The Summer Night of the Lord Who Changed Its Name — Meeting Again as 'Siwon Night Festa'
When I heard that Yeongju had a summer-night festival, I looked it up and was a little confused. In 2024 and 2025, it was held at Seocheon Riverside Promenade and Munjeong Riverside Promenade as the 'Yeongju Siwon(ONE) Festival,' combining a water park and performances, but in 2026 it changes its name to 'Yeongju Siwon Night Festa' and runs for three days from July 31 to August 2. The location is also around 109 Gaeheung-ro, Gaeheung-dong, near the Yeongju Civic Stadium side. Since the name includes 'night,' it feels like the direction has shifted toward a night festival focused more on the summer night than daytime water play.
What drew me to this festival was the concept of 'enjoying a summer night in the city center.' Even without going far like to a beach water park, the riverside promenade brings together a stage, a yajan (an outdoor food area with the vibe of a casual street-food tent), food trucks, photo zones, and scenic lighting in one place, letting you spend time from evening into night. The SingSing Concert, Siwon Music Festa, and the 3rd Yeongju Seocheon Riverside Song Festival are the main stage attractions, and last year this riverside song festival was gradually establishing itself through repeated editions.

Which artists are coming — the 2026 lineup is looking strong
Honestly, I did not expect much from a small local city summer festival lineup, but I was surprised after seeing the 2026 promo video. Names like Lee Chan-won, Shin Ye-yeong, FIFTY FIFTY, Dynamic Duo, Kim Ha-on, and Park Sang-cheol were all listed one after another. With a program spanning trot, hip-hop, and idols, it is structured so that families with parents as well as groups of friends in their 20s each have a stage they can enjoy.
For reference, in the previous year, 2025, Kim Hyun-jung, Lee Jae-hoon of Cool, the girl group DreamNote, Mighty Mouth, and an EDM party led by broadcaster Park Myung-soo filled the nights. A standing zone was set up for the EDM/DJ party held every night, creating a scene where the audience danced in front of the stage. The stage style itself leans more toward 'standing and enjoying' than 'sitting and watching,' so comfortable shoes and light clothing are recommended. For exact 2026 daily performers and schedules, check the official festival page of the Yeongju Culture & Tourism Foundation in advance so you do not make a wasted trip.
A foreign traveler's day — from Yeongju Station to the festival site
If you are coming from Seoul, the cleanest option is to take KTX-Eum or a Mugunghwa train from Cheongnyangni Station to Yeongju Station. KTX-Eum operates several times a day on the Cheongnyangni–Andong–Busan section, making it reachable from the capital area in about an hour or so, and in March 2026 a pedestrian connecting passage at Yeongju Station also opened, making the flow from the station into the city much better. However, Yeongju Station is not directly attached to the festival site, so you will need to take a taxi from the station or move by city bus toward Gaeheung-dong. Yeongju is not a large city, so even by taxi it was not too burdensome.
The food is the real fun of this festival. There is an atmospheric outdoor drinking space called 'The Romantic Yajan Under the Rain,' a Yeongju local food zone, and rows of food trucks, so if you get hungry while watching performances you can grab something right away. Last year too, the food zone and the air-conditioned rest area called the 'Siwon Zone' were popular as places to rest between water play and performances. Payment terms may differ by food truck and booth, so it is safest to bring some cash and also prepare a card and mobile payment option. Yeongju is a place where many shops accept Yeongju Love Gift Certificates, the local currency, so it is good to check this depending on the booth at the site.
It is not really a festival with strong English guidance or interpretation services. Stage hosting and announcements are mainly in Korean, so it is more comfortable to look up the performance lineup and timetable in advance. Still, since it is a festival enjoyed through music, lights, and food, it is the kind of place where you can easily get caught up in the atmosphere even without knowing the language.
Things to know before you go
First of all, this is not a paid event where you buy a ticket to enter, but a city-style festival held on the riverside promenade, so you can come and go freely. Famous singer stages were often enjoyed in a standing zone without separate reservations, but on nights when popular artists perform, competition for front-row spots is fierce, so if you want a good place, it is better to arrive well before the performance starts.
- Weather and clothing: Since this is a midsummer night event, prepare for both daytime heat and the cool river breeze at night. A thin outer layer, mosquito repellent, water, and comfortable sneakers are useful.
- Rain preparation: Because it is on a riverside promenade, rain can turn the ground muddy. Bringing a raincoat or a foldable umbrella will give you peace of mind.
- Getting home: Many stages end late at night, but Yeongju's public transport last services are relatively early. If you plan to stay late, decide in advance on a taxi app or your accommodation location.
- Payment: Some booths may only accept cash, so carry a small amount of cash.
Restrooms, rest areas, and scenic-lighting photo zones are set up all over the promenade, so it was also manageable for families. When the daytime heat is strong, the trick to enjoying the whole day is to pace yourself by using the air-conditioned rest area.
So, who is this festival recommended for?
It is perfect for people who like the feeling of spending an entire summer night by the neighborhood river rather than something flashy and large-scale. If you combine a quiet daytime trip in Yeongju, such as to Buseoksa Temple, Sosu Seowon, or Museom Village, with an evening of a drink at the yajan and live performances at this festival, you get a complete day-and-night Yeongju trip. It was a summer night with a different kind of relaxed charm unique to a small city, unlike Korea's big-city festivals.
