Runner Station Connecting Exit 2 of Yeouinaru Station to 8.4 km Along the Han River
Yeouinaru Station Runner Station is the first project of Seoul’s innovative subway-station initiative, “Fun Station,” which opened on May 21, 2024. Equipped with changing rooms, 16 lockers, a shoe sterilizer, and stretching equipment, it was designed so runners can change clothes and store their belongings before and after running along the Han River without leaving the station.

Background to the Yeouinaru Station staff-room idle space becoming a runner base camp on May 21, 2024
Yeouinaru Station Runner Station opened on May 21, 2024, as Fun Station No. 1, the first application of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s “Subway Station Innovation Project.” Seoul selected Yeouinaru Station for a project converting underused spaces inside stations into citizen-oriented content spaces, and redesigned its location directly adjacent to Hangang Park as a running-focused facility.
Yeouido combines several favorable conditions: broad and relatively flat pedestrian and bicycle routes along the Han River, a large commuting population from the financial and business district, and the 8.4 km Yeouido Loop Trail. Runner Station incorporated feedback from running experts and running crews into its spatial design. Rather than simply serving as an in-station exhibition for taking photos, it was created as a hub connecting changing clothes, storage, warm-up exercises, and information access.

The order for using the 16 lockers and 3 changing rooms at the B1 base camp
The key space is the Runner Station Base Camp around the ticket gates on basement level 1 of Yeouinaru Station. According to Seoul Metropolitan Government information, it has 16 storage lockers, changing rooms, a powder room, a nursing room, a shoe disinfection and sterilization machine, and a media board displaying running information. There are three changing rooms, which are described as having full-length mirrors and doors opening to the outside.
Yoga mats, foam rollers, and stretching bands are also provided for warm-up exercises. Recent operating information additionally lists massage balls, stretching boards, and an AI body-shape analysis kiosk. Registration on the record board and information about stretching, running posture, and nearby courses on the media board can be checked inside the station, but equipment and programs may vary according to the operating schedule, so it is safest to check the official website notice for the day of your visit first.

Route to the Han River starting point connected to Exit 2 of Yeouinaru Station on Line 5
The official policy information states that Runner Station is connected to Exit 2 of Yeouinaru Station on Seoul Subway Line 5. Other Seoul Metropolitan Government field guides use Exits 3 and 4 for transport directions, so first-time visitors can avoid confusion by checking both the “Runner Station” signs around the basement-level ticket gates and the directions toward Exit 2.
The address is provided as B2, 350 Yeouidong-ro, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, while some official policy pages list 343 Yeouidong-ro. This appears to reflect the use of both station/exit and Hangang Park-side address references, so it is better to enter “Yeouinaru Station Runner Station” as the destination in a navigation app. When using the subway, you can head directly toward Hangang Park after changing clothes, making the route simpler than a visit that requires separately checking vehicle parking availability.

Turnaround points to know when running the 8.4 km Yeouido Loop Trail for the first time
One of the representative distances presented by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in connection with the opening of Runner Station is the 8.4 km Yeouido Loop Trail. In 2024, the “Ultra Challenge (8.4K)” was operated using this distance, and running courses near Yeouinaru were also displayed on the in-station media board. Since 8.4 km is longer than a casual walking distance, first-time visitors should decide where to find water and restrooms and when to return before setting out.
The Yeouido riverside offers excellent river views, but on weekends and event days, pedestrians, cyclists, and runners may share the same route. If your goal is performance training, consider early morning or weekday evening rather than busy times. Beginners may find it more practical to set a shorter out-and-back distance and return to Runner Station. After a riverside run, the availability of a shoe disinfection and sterilization machine, powder room, and lockers is one feature that distinguishes it from starting at an ordinary park.
Applications for the following week’s Monday, Tuesday, and Friday classes open every Monday at 2 p.m.
According to the 2026 operating information, Monday 07:00–08:00 features Morning Coffee Run, Tuesday 19:00–20:00 features the S.N.P.E class covering proper posture, and Friday 19:00–21:00 features a running performance session. The Friday session schedule introduces Coach Yoo Seung-yeop, who won the domestic division of the Seoul Marathon in 2017.
Applications for programs open every Monday at 14:00 for the following week’s schedule, and participants are instructed to apply through the Runner Station website or Dongma Club. The Monday, Tuesday, and Friday classes differ from facilities that guarantee access simply upon arrival, so anyone visiting for a class should check application status and the start time in advance. Free rentals have also been offered, with running-crew rentals announced as operating on a monthly, first-come-first-served basis.

Prepare separately for the free facilities and paid subway travel
Runner Station itself has been presented as a free space with no admission fee, with facilities available without separate reservations distinguished from classes requiring advance applications. The Korea Tourism Organization’s tourism information lists operating hours as 07:00–21:00 and locker hours as 06:00–24:00. However, program and facility operations may change depending on the season and events, so check the website notice on the day of departure.
For inquiries, contact the operations office at 070-7725-3461, the Yeouinaru Station Seoul Subway inquiry line at 02-6311-5271, or the Seoul Metropolitan Government Dasan Call Center at 02-120. The official website is https://www.runnerstation.co.kr/. International travelers can refer to the address and hours provided in the English tourism information. The nursing room, powder room, and changing rooms may be helpful for visitors with strollers or those needing to freshen up before or after running. However, it is more accurate to confirm wheelchair routes and the real-time availability of individual facilities by phone in advance.
When it is and is not suitable for travelers who are not wearing running shoes
Even if you do not run, there is a reason to stop by briefly if you want to see how the Subway Station Innovation Project actually transformed an idle station staff space. Through its photo zone, running record board, media board, and base camp, Runner Station demonstrates how using Yeouido Hangang Park has been extended into the station. However, it is not a place for spending a long time viewing an independent exhibition like a museum, so it is better combined with a walk along the Han River or a Yeouido itinerary.
Conversely, it may not suit visitors expecting shower facilities or seeking professional coaching without a set schedule. The main confirmed amenities are changing rooms, a powder room, lockers, a shoe sterilizer, and stretching equipment; classes and coaching are application-based programs. Bring running shoes, running clothes, a way to use the subway, and water or a thermos, and plan to collect your belongings within the locker operating hours of 06:00–24:00.
