The Hyundai Seoul is a large department store that opened in Yeouido’s Parc1 on February 26, 2021. Its centerpiece is Sounds Forest on the fifth floor, located in the middle of the shopping route. Considering its underground connection to Yeouido Station, floor-by-floor pop-up and exhibition schedules, and parking fees together makes it much easier to plan your route, even on your first visit.

Why a “Park Inside a Department Store” Was Added to Parc One in Yeouido on February 26, 2021
The Hyundai Seoul is a futuristic flagship department store opened by Hyundai Department Store on February 26, 2021, at Parc One in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. The building has seven basement levels and eight above-ground floors, and according to reports at the time, its retail floor area was 89,100㎡, making it the largest department store in Seoul. Its starting point was the decision to put spaces designed for extended stays ahead of simple shopping areas in Yeouido, where financial, broadcasting, and National Assembly functions are concentrated.
The building’s central feature is Sounds Forest on the fifth floor. The Korea Tourism Organization describes the indoor garden, which uses natural grass and skylit daylight, as covering 3,306㎡ with a ceiling height of approximately 20 m. Hyundai Department Store stated that as of 2025, it had planted approximately 55 trees from seven species and more than 50 types of shrubs and ground-cover plants in the roughly 3,300㎡ space. In other words, it is better understood not as a department store with a garden added on, but as a building organized around a forest, with retail, dining, and exhibition routes arranged around it.
A 90-Minute Visit Starting with Sounds Forest on the Fifth Floor and Waterfall Garden on the First Floor
If it is your first visit, it is easier to navigate by taking the escalator directly from the basement level 2 entrance to Sounds Forest on the fifth floor rather than starting your shopping immediately. Since the forest can also be seen from the upper floors through the central vertical void, it is easy to understand which direction you are facing if you familiarize yourself with the location on the fifth floor before moving to the sixth and first floors. The recommended stay is 90 minutes to 2 hours, even without including meals or pop-ups.
Sounds Forest received the Prime Minister’s Award at the 15th Korea Landscape Architecture Awards in 2025. The first floor features Waterfall Garden and the installation “Unite & Shine” by Studio Swine, so there is a reason to walk through to the center of the first floor rather than leaving after seeing only the luxury stores near the entrance. However, seasonal decorations and pop-ups change frequently, so if you are visiting for a specific exhibition or photo zone, check the official pop-up calendar on the day of your visit.
A 500 m Underground Moving Walkway from Yeouido Station Exit 3 and 400 m from Exit 4
For the subway, use Yeouido Station on Lines 5 and 9 as your reference point. According to Hyundai Department Store’s directions, from near Exit 3, follow the underground moving walkway for approximately 500 m to connect to the basement level 2 store entrance of The Hyundai Seoul. From Exit 4, come above ground and walk straight for approximately 400 m. The underground route from Exit 3 is more convenient in rain, severe cold, or extreme heat, but if you have luggage, keep in mind that the distance is not short.
For buses, get off at the “The Hyundai Seoul (19-282)” stop toward the Yeouido Transfer Center to connect to the main entrance. Seoul’s city guidance explains that the store is approximately a 10-minute walk from Yeouido Station and that a Hyundai Department Store bus stop is near the main entrance. If you are using a bicycle, you will see a dedicated bicycle path in front of the building and nearby Ttareungi bicycle stations, but considering indoor travel and shopping bags, the subway is simpler for a long shopping itinerary.
Monday–Thursday 10:30–20:00, Friday–Sunday Until 20:20, and the Sixth-Floor Food Court Until 22:00
Regular business hours are listed as 10:30–20:00 from Monday to Thursday and 10:30–20:20 on Fridays and weekends. The sixth-floor food court has separate operating information showing hours of 10:30–22:00. However, individual restaurants, pop-ups, and exhibition spaces may have different closing times from the department store’s regular hours, so if you arrive after 19:00, it is safest to check the last order and admission closing times for your intended venue separately.
The Korea Tourism Organization lists the store as open year-round, but temporary changes may occur for holidays, facility inspections, and other reasons, so check announcements shortly before your visit. General admission is free, while ALT.1 exhibitions require tickets purchased separately for each exhibition. First 30 Minutes Free, Then 2,000 Won per 10 Minutes, with Up to 3 Hours Based on Purchase Amount
Parking is available. The first 30 minutes are free, after which the fee is 2,000 won per 10 minutes. Free parking based on purchase amount is 1 hour for purchases of 50,000 won or more, 2 hours for 100,000 won or more, and 3 hours for 150,000 won or more. Customers taking classes at CH1985 and customers holding tickets to ALT.1 exhibitions are each eligible for 2 hours of free parking. The parking inquiry number is 02-3277-0077.
Starbucks The Hyundai Seoul R is not eligible for parking validation, so do not expect free parking simply from using the café. On weekends or during major pop-up periods, queues to enter the parking facility may occur. If you do not have a specific shopping purpose, the underground connection from Yeouido Station Exit 3 makes costs and travel time easier to predict. Wheelchair and stroller users can enter through the basement level 2 connecting entrance and check the elevator location first to reduce travel between floors.
The Pop-Up Schedule Is a Daily List for the Fifth and Basement Floors, Not a Fixed Tourist Attraction
The pop-up calendar for The Hyundai Seoul is updated by date on the official website. Therefore, if your itinerary is focused on seeing a specific character, beauty brand, regional specialty, or artist collaboration, simply planning to “go to The Hyundai Seoul” is not enough; you should also check the pop-up name, floor, and admission method for your visit date. Popular events may use on-site waiting or separate reservations, so arriving around 10:30, just after opening, is relatively better for managing your route.
If your purpose is to see the spaces rather than shop, it is suitable to visit the fifth-floor forest and first-floor atrium first on a weekday morning, then plan your meal before the lunchtime crowds, prior to 11:30, or in the late afternoon. Conversely, pop-up queues and weekend crowds may not suit people who only want a quiet museum visit. The plants, scents, and music in Sounds Forest are elements designed for an immersive indoor experience, but keep in mind that seating can fill quickly on days when many visitors come to take photographs.
A Half-Day Yeouido Route Combining IFC Mall and Yeouido Park
IFC Mall is right next to The Hyundai Seoul, making it easy to continue an indoor shopping and dining route. Seoul’s city guidance describes the distance between the Culture Lounge on IFC Mall’s basement level L2 and The Hyundai Seoul as close enough to walk. After seeing the pop-ups and Sounds Forest at The Hyundai Seoul, moving on to IFC Mall lets you experience how the large-scale complexes of Yeouido’s financial district are connected through an underground pedestrian network.
If the weather is good, you can extend the route to Yeouido Park. This suits an itinerary that includes an outdoor walk after spending a long time indoors, but if you have many shopping bags or a suitcase, returning to Yeouido Station is more practical than going to the park.
