How the 1,140 m Banpo Bridge Became the “Moonlight Rainbow Fountain”
The facility that defines the nighttime scenery of Banpo Hangang Park is the Moonlight Rainbow Fountain installed on both sides of Banpo Bridge. The fountain section spans a total of 1,140 m, and Seoul Metropolitan Government materials introduce it as the world's longest bridge fountain and state that it was listed in the Guinness World Records in 2008. Banpo Bridge is Korea's first double-deck bridge, with the lower Jamsu Bridge and upper Banpo Bridge overlapping, so during a riverside walk you can see both the upper bridge carrying traffic and the lower Jamsu Bridge.
The Moonlight Rainbow Fountain is known to have operated since 2009, but its actual operating dates, sessions, and times may vary depending on the season, weather, Hangang water levels, and events. If you are visiting specifically for the fountain, first check the day's operating status in the Hangang Park notices, and plan your schedule so that you can switch to a walk around Sebitseom, Jamsu Bridge, or Seoraeseom even if the fountain is canceled.

Entering via the Banpo Southern Access Point from Exit 8-1 of Express Bus Terminal Station
The main reference point for accessing the park is Express Bus Terminal Station on Lines 3, 7, and 9. Seoul's visitor information recommends Exit 8-1 of Express Bus Terminal Station for visitors heading toward the southern end of Jamsu Bridge, while the official directions to Banpo Hangang Park provide a map showing access points into the park from Gubanpo Station, Sinbanpo Station, and Express Bus Terminal Station. For first-time visitors, setting the destination separately to “Banpo Information Center” or “Sebitseom” in a map app makes it easier to distinguish the direction toward the riverside entrance.
Bus routes and stop locations may change depending on events and traffic controls. Seoul's traffic-control information mentions the “Banpo Hangang Park·Sebitseom” bus stop and routes 143, 401, and 406; on event days at Jamsu Bridge, detours or temporary stops may be operated. The park advises that Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays can be crowded because of large events and heavy visitor traffic, so the subway is more predictable for reaching the park during the evening fountain hours.

The Three Seorae Bridges on Seoraeseom and the Location of the Spring Rapeseed Flower Fields
Seoraeseom is an artificial island created in the distributary inside Banpo Hangang Park. The park and island are connected by three Seorae Bridges, so rather than seeing only Sebitseom and the fountain before turning back, adding Seoraeseom to your walking route lets you experience both the waterside and the island's interior trails. A Seoul Culture Portal photo article also introduces the “Space for Contemplation” sign at the entrance to Seoraeseom and the scenery of the distributary.
Seoraeseom is particularly known for its rapeseed flowers in late spring, but flowering times and planting conditions vary from year to year. If your goal is specifically to see the yellow flower fields, check Seoul Metropolitan Government or Hangang Park event notices, or the latest on-site postings, before setting out. Even when there are no flowers, the island itself can still be explored using the three pedestrian bridges. Cyclists should reduce their speed in areas crowded with pedestrians and give priority to people taking photographs when crossing the bridges.

A 90–150-Minute Riverside Route Centered on Sebitseom
For a short visit, a route of around 90 minutes is suitable: look toward Banpo Bridge from the riverside in front of Sebitseom, then return. If fountain operation has been confirmed for the day, arrive near Sebitseom before sunset, walk along the riverside, and move toward Banpo Bridge in time for the fountain. This keeps the route simple. Sebitseom is a distinctive floating complex at the southern end of the park, making it an easy meeting point even for first-time foreign visitors.
If you have at least two and a half hours, it is better to travel from Sebitseom to Seoraeseom, cross one of the three Seorae Bridges, walk around the island trail, and return to the park. However, access to Jamsu Bridge and low-lying areas may be restricted during rain or when the Hangang water level is high. The official Banpo parking information also advises against parking overnight during typhoons, floods, or torrential rain because of the possibility of flooding.

669 Spaces at Banpo Parking Lots 1, 2, and 3, Plus 150 Temporary Weekend Spaces
There are four parking lots at Banpo Hangang Park, including one temporary lot, with 669 spaces normally available and 819 spaces including the temporary lot. Operating hours are 06:00–24:00. Banpo Parking Lot 1 has 332 spaces at 122-1 Jamwon-dong, upstream from the southern end of Banpo Bridge; Banpo Parking Lot 2 has 253 spaces at 115-5 Banpo-dong; and Banpo Parking Lot 3 has 84 spaces at the same address.
The temporary Banpo parking lot in front of Sebitseom has 150 spaces and, in 2025, operated temporarily only on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays from March 29 through November 30. The fee is 1,000 won for the first 30 minutes, 200 won for every additional 10 minutes, and a daily maximum of 10,000 won. It is open free of charge for the three days comprising the day before, the day of, and the day after the Seollal and Chuseok holidays. Vehicles that use the park for more than three hours may qualify for a 30% reduction on the fee for the additional time, but the conditions for applying this discount should be confirmed on site.

Admission to the park itself is free, and it is available year-round. However, the information center's administrative hours differ from the hours during which visitors may stay in the park, so visitors arriving late should check the locations of restrooms and amenities, as well as transportation for the return trip, in advance. Wheelchair and stroller users should prioritize the paved riverside trails, but mobility on the Seoraeseom connecting bridges and Jamsu Bridge may vary depending on events, crowds, and water levels, so check access-control notices immediately before departure.
