APMA’s Exhibition Space, Transformed by the 2018 Move to Yongsan

Amorepacific Museum of Art (APMA) opened anew in 2018 at Amorepacific’s headquarters at 100 Hangang-daero, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. The galleries are located on the first above-ground floor and first basement level of the headquarters, and the museum operates as an institution that collects, researches, and exhibits Korean traditional and contemporary art.

The site is in the Hangang-ro area, where Amorepacific established its business base in 1956. Completed in 2018, the headquarters was designed by British architect David Chipperfield and is described as architecture inspired by the restrained form of the moon jar. Even if you are visiting mainly for the exhibitions, looking around the building’s central courtyard and shared spaces reveals more clearly how the site combines a corporate headquarters with a cultural venue.

About 80 Works in 《APMA, CHAPTER FIVE》 and the Reservation System

As of August 2026, the exhibition is the special exhibition 《APMA, CHAPTER FIVE - FROM THE APMA COLLECTION》. It presents around 80 works from the contemporary art collection, including Nam June Paik’s 1995 work ‘Con-Tiki,’ Rose Wylie’s 2022 work ‘Spindle and Cover Girl,’ Kiki Smith’s 2012 work ‘Sky,’ and Lee Bul’s 2012 work ‘Secret Sharer.’

This is a reservation-only exhibition requiring advance online reservations. However, on-site ticketing is also available for overseas or out-of-town visitors, according to the Information. Since this does not guarantee admission at your preferred time, it is safest to check available reservation times on the official exhibition page before setting out. Admission is 13,000 won for adults, 10,000 won for university and graduate students, and 6,500 won for youths aged 7–18. Children aged 3–6 and those under 36 months enter free.

Entering Underground from Exit 1 of Sinyongsan Station

The simplest access route is Exit 1 of Sinyongsan Station on Subway Line 4. Instead of walking outside for a long distance, you can enter the Amorepacific headquarters via the underground connecting passage, which is especially convenient in rainy weather or during the height of summer and winter. The address is 100 Hangang-daero, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and the museum’s main telephone number is 02-6040-2345.

If you are using Yongsan Station on Line 1 or the Gyeongui–Jungang Line, the official route is to leave through Exit 1, pass Raemian Yongsan, cross the crosswalk in front of Exit 4 of Sinyongsan Station, and enter the headquarters. When starting from Yongsan Station, checking both the exit numbers and the crosswalk location, rather than trying to follow only underground passages, makes it easier to avoid getting lost.

Visiting from 10:00 to 18:00, with Ticketing Closing at 17:30

The museum is open from 10:00 to 18:00, Tuesday through Sunday, and ticket issuance ends at 17:30, 30 minutes before the end of visiting hours. It is closed every Monday, January 1, and during the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holiday periods. Exhibition hours may occasionally be extended, so if you are hoping to visit at night on a particular date, check the official announcements for separate operating details.

If you plan to make a quick tour of the galleries, allow 60–90 minutes; 90–120 minutes is suitable if you also want to enjoy the explanations for individual works and the architectural spaces. You can listen to exhibition commentary by downloading the free ‘APMA GUIDE’ app. Curator programs are recruited separately by date, and the 2026 program also includes an ENGLISH SESSION conducted in English from entry through exit.

90-Minute Parking Discount in Basement Levels B3–B4 and Weekday Crowds

Visitors arriving by car can use basement parking levels B3–B4 of the Amorepacific headquarters, and museum visitors receive a 90-minute parking discount on both weekdays and weekends. However, the official Information states that parking spaces may be limited on weekdays because many vehicles use the headquarters, and spaces cannot be reserved in advance.

If you exceed the 15-minute complimentary grace period, those 15 minutes are not deducted from the total parking time. The museum parking discount and the complimentary parking time offered by stores in the headquarters’ commercial areas may be combined once, but costs incurred at nearby public or private parking lots are not covered. If you have an appointment on a weekday afternoon, it is preferable to consider public transportation access via Sinyongsan Station first.

Using the Stroller, Wheelchair, and Coatroom in the Right Order

The coatroom operates from 10:00 to 18:00, Tuesday through Sunday. After completing a simple form, you can receive a claim ticket. If you want to avoid viewing the exhibition while carrying large luggage, it is convenient to ask about the coatroom’s location before entering. A nursing room is available on the second floor of the headquarters.

Strollers and wheelchairs can be borrowed by leaving an identification document and completing a simple form. Visitors traveling with accompanying guardians should arrive a little earlier than their reserved time to complete the rental procedure. Student admission requires presentation of a student ID. Amorepacific Beauty Points can be used to pay for admission tickets and art merchandise, but points cannot be accumulated.

Two Easily Missed Points When Adding It to a Yongsan Station Itinerary

If you plan to visit before or after transferring to or from a train at Yongsan Station, it is best to travel from Exit 1 of Yongsan Station to the headquarters and coordinate your arrival with the exhibition entry time. In particular, since ticketing ends after 17:30, on days when your KTX arrives late, it is more realistic to choose a reservation slot between 10:00 and 17:30 on another day rather than forcing in a same-day visit.

This is less a large public museum centered on permanent exhibitions than a museum focused on special exhibitions, with admission fees and reservation conditions that vary by exhibition.
