Crossing 402 m of water to meet the 110 m fountain at Yedangho Suspension Bridge

402 m in the middle of Yedang Lake, construction started in 2017 and opened in April 2019

Yedang Lake Suspension Bridge is a suspension bridge that Yesan County began constructing in June 2017 and opened in April 2019. It measures 402 m in total length, 5 m in width, and has 64 m-high main towers. Because its deck is designed to sway slightly as people cross, it was given the name “suspension bridge.”

The opening ceremony was held on April 6, 2019, and the total project cost was 10.5 billion won. According to Yesan County and its press materials, the bridge was designed to accommodate approximately 3,150 adults crossing simultaneously and withstand winds of 35 m/s and a magnitude 7 earthquake.

The context of Yedang Tourist Area’s 1986 designation: from a reservoir to a lakeside destination for longer stays

The area around Yedang Lake, where the suspension bridge stands, was designated as Yedang Tourist Area in 1986. In addition to the suspension bridge, the tourist area includes a musical fountain, observatory, monorail, sculpture park, and walking trails, encouraging visitors to spend time along the lakeshore rather than simply crossing the bridge and returning.

The Slow Lake Trail from Yedang Lake Waterfront Park, across the suspension bridge, and onward to Yedang Lake Central Ecological Park is approximately 7 km long. Crossing only the bridge takes little time, but if you include the walking sections, it is safer to wear sneakers and plan to return before sunset.

09:00–22:00 from March 1 through the first Sunday of December; closes at 20:00 in winter

The suspension bridge can be used from 09:00 to 22:00 from March 1 through the first Sunday of December. During the winter season, from the second Tuesday of December through the end of February, hours are shortened to 09:00–20:00, so visitors planning a winter evening visit should finish crossing the bridge before 20:00.

Regular maintenance closure is on the first Monday of each month; if that day is a public holiday, the closure moves to the following weekday. Temporary closure notices due to bad weather or safety inspections are also posted from time to time, so check the Yedang Lake Suspension Bridge notices on the day of departure. For inquiries, contact the Yedang Tourist Area operations team at 041-339-8287.

The musical fountain reaches 110 m, with different schedules for March–April and October–December versus May–September

The musical fountain is described as measuring 96 m in length and 16 m in width, with jets reaching up to 110 m. Yesan County announced that from March 2026, it will operate on weekdays from Tuesday to Friday at 11:00, 14:00, 17:00, 19:30, and 20:30, and on weekends and public holidays at 11:00, 14:00, 17:00, 18:30, 19:30, and 20:30.

Evening showtimes change from May through September. On weekdays, shows are at 11:00, 14:00, 17:00, 20:00, and 21:00; on weekends and public holidays, they are at 11:00, 14:00, 17:00, 19:00, 20:00, and 21:00. During winter, musical fountain operations are suspended to prevent freezing. Mondays are maintenance days for the musical fountain and laser video show systems, so visitors planning to see a performance should choose Tuesday through Sunday.

Parking and walking route beginning at the southern entrance at 161 Yedanggwangwang-ro

According to tourist information, the suspension bridge address is 161 Yedanggwangwang-ro, Eungbong-myeon, Yesan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do. The provided address, 829 Yedang-ro, Daeheung-myeon, is a location near Yedang Lake, so entering “Yedang Lake Suspension Bridge” or “161 Yedanggwangwang-ro” as the navigation destination is more accurate for reaching the bridge.

Public parking is available, and both parking and admission are free. The Yedang Lake Monorail boarding area is located at the southern entrance to the bridge, and the monorail travels its approximately 1.3 km circular route in about 22 minutes. If you plan to use the bridge, fountain, and monorail together, allowing 2–3 hours is realistic when waiting time is taken into account.

Why a taxi is simpler than a bus from Yesan Station, and why the Slow Lake Trail is 7 km

If you use Yesan Station as your starting point, Yedang Lake is not a walkable destination within the station area. The Korea Tourism Organization lists the Yesan Transportation phone number as 041-332-7494, and public transportation schedules and stops may change frequently, so confirmation before departure is necessary. If you have luggage or plan to return after viewing the evening fountain, a taxi or private car makes the route simpler.

The site can be reached using public transportation alone, but from May through September, when the final fountain show is at 20:30 or 21:00, you should arrange your return transportation first. The officially available range of stroller and wheelchair access and detailed assistance facilities have not been clearly confirmed, so visitors requiring ramps or mobility assistance should inquire in advance at 041-339-8287.

  • Recommended stay: 40–60 minutes for the suspension bridge only; at least 2 hours including the musical fountain
  • Slow Lake Trail: Approximately 7 km
  • Monorail: Approximately 1.3 km circular route, about 22 minutes
  • Parking: Public parking available, free

How to fit in the observatory and monorail between the 14:00 daytime fountain and the 20:30 evening show

If you arrive during the day, an efficient order is to cross the suspension bridge first, then visit the observatory and take the monorail, returning to the lakeshore in time for the 14:00 or 17:00 musical fountain show. The Yedang Lake Observatory has a 70 m-high observation floor, allowing you to view the lake’s outline from a different height than from the bridge.

For an evening itinerary, finish crossing the bridge before sunset and remain in the viewing area for the musical fountain show. In spring and autumn 2026, the final weekday fountain show is at 20:30; in summer, the final weekday show is at 21:00, while the suspension bridge operates until 22:00 during those seasons. However, the bridge or floating footbridge may be closed if notices are issued for facility inspections, strong winds, or heavy rain.

Eight photos showing different views of the suspension bridge, fountain, and lake

The photos below are images related to the Yedang Lake Suspension Bridge provided by Yesan County’s official page and the Chungnam Tourism tourist destination page. Even though they show the same location, photos taken at different times and focused on different subjects—including the bridge structure in daylight, the lake surface, the musical fountain, and nighttime lighting—have been included together.

Photos do not guarantee current conditions at the site. In particular, the musical fountain and laser video show may change according to seasonal schedules, facility inspections, and weather conditions, so on the actual visit date, prioritize the latest operating information in Yesan County’s notices.
