Platform-L Contemporary Art Center opened in spring 2016. The official architectural description states that the overlapping diamond pattern is a motif derived from the geometry of the architecture and landscaping of Versailles during the era of Louis XIV. The courtyard left open at the center takes the form of a Western-style courtyard while also consciously serving the Korean concept of a madang, a space that connects other facilities and encourages people to linger.

An approximately 160-seat performance venue equipped with a movable-wall system was planned about 20 meters underground. If you arrive expecting only to view an exhibition, following the route through the basement spaces and courtyard will make it easier to understand why this building is closer to a multifaceted cultural space than a gallery.

Regular visiting hours are 11:00–20:00 from Tuesday through Sunday, with exhibition admission available until 19:30, 30 minutes before closing. The center is closed every Monday, January 1, Lunar New Year's Day, Chuseok, and Christmas Day, while additional irregular closures may be announced on the website. If you are planning an itinerary in Nonhyeon-dong on a Monday, you should assume that interior visits will not be possible.

The standard exhibition admission fee listed in the official FAQ is KRW 10,000 for adults and KRW 6,000 for youth and eligible visitors. L-FRIEND members receive a stated 20% discount, and groups of 20 or more can make reservations at KRW 5,000 per person. However, there are free exhibitions and special exhibitions and performances with separate fees, so do not assume that admission is always KRW 10,000.

How to Combine the Courtyard Café with the 2026 Tenth-Anniversary Program

A space in the Platform-L courtyard operates alongside the museum programs and offers coffee and desserts. The official venue introduction explains that it is located in the courtyard and serves barista-made coffee, desserts, and jazz music. However, café operating hours and days off may differ from exhibition visiting hours, so if you plan to visit in the late afternoon, it is best to check in advance whether drinks will be available.

2026 marks the center's tenth anniversary. Special exhibitions and live arts programs will continue throughout the year, and the spaces in use may vary on particular dates, including Gallery 2 and 3, Annex 2 and 3, Platform Live (B2), and Machine Room (B3).
