Photo Spots
- Front square of Pungnammun: Take photos from the wide open space in front of the gate, facing Pungnammun head-on. If your camera faces the gate from the north, the full roof and gate shape will be captured neatly. The best time is in the morning, when the light is soft and there are relatively few people.
- Area around the stone wall path: Capture the gate and hanok atmosphere together on the old stone wall path near Pungnammun. Standing along the wall and shooting diagonally toward Pungnammun creates a strong traditional mood. Early morning is the quietest time.
- Street with a hanok background: This is a good spot to take photos before or after visiting Pungnammun, in an alley with few signs and a strong hanok feel. If you shoot while looking toward the main road from inside the alley, the traditional background appears more naturally. Morning hours are the cleanest.
- Walking route around the area: Walk around Pungnammun and look for side angles. Instead of only photographing the gate straight on, shooting slightly from the side toward the gate can create a more three-dimensional image. Photos taken during a morning walk have the most stable lighting and atmosphere.
Night View
After the sun sets, Pungnammun shows a different atmosphere as soft nighttime lighting turns on. Rather than a flashy night view, the feature here is that the curves and detailed decorations of the traditional architecture stand out clearly under gentle lighting.
The atmosphere is quiet and calm, making it well suited for an evening walk or photography. Especially after darkness has fully settled, Pungnammun's gate structure and roofline look even more beautiful under the lights.
The recommended time is from after sunset until around 9 p.m. Visiting in the early evening rather than too late makes it easy to enjoy the surrounding streets as well, and it is also convenient to connect this stop with the night-view course at Jeondong Cathedral and Hanok Village.
Jeonju is known as a city specializing in night tourism, so night tourism programs may be held depending on the season or period. Before visiting, checking whether there are any night events through Jeonju City or tourist information channels will help you enjoy the trip even more fully.
