Singer G-Dragon (GD), the official ambassador for the 48th UNESCO World Heritage Committee, emphasized the meaning of preserving world heritage at the opening ceremony held at BEXCO in Busan on the 19th.

Introducing himself by saying, "I am Korean singer G-Dragon," he said, "I would like to sincerely thank UNESCO, which has long protected humanity's precious heritage, and the many people who joined us here today."

G-Dragon first mentioned the host city, Busan, saying, "Busan is an amazing city that has transformed the painful history of past war into a foundation for present-day peace and hope," and added, "Here, where the world's only United Nations Memorial Cemetery is located, we now want to make a new promise to protect world heritage together."

He continued, "Protecting heritage is not about preserving the past; it is about creating peace for the future," and emphasized, "I also believe that art can become a great force in protecting the world's heritage of the future."

He added, "Art moves the hearts of all of us, and when each of those hearts comes together, it can change the world," and "I also want to lend my strength to protecting and preserving world heritage that is at risk of disappearing due to war and the climate crisis."

G-Dragon concluded his speech by saying, "As a popular artist, I hope that our small hearts, starting in Busan, will become a great stage of peace connecting the world."

That day, G-Dragon added meaning to the first World Heritage Committee held in Korea with a white suit, a blue pocket square, and nail art featuring the Taegeukgi pattern.

G-Dragon is running the "Heritage in Peace" campaign to raise funds for the protection of world heritage together with the Juspeace Foundation, where he serves as honorary chairman.
