KBS aims for a second consecutive hit with 'Love Cloud' after 'Moonmu'

Actor Song Joong-ki will return to KBS with the drama 'Love Cloud'. It will be his first KBS comeback in about 10 years since his signature work 'Descendants of the Sun'.

According to our newspaper's reporting on the 13th, 'Love Cloud', starring Song Joong-ki and Park Ji-hyun, has been confirmed for KBS2's weekend drama slot. As the follow-up to KBS's anticipated drama 'Moonmu', it is expected to meet viewers in the first half of next year.

The work was previously reported late last year to be under positive consideration for Song Joong-ki's appearance, and the scheduling discussions that followed are said to have become more concrete. In addition to Song Joong-ki and Park Ji-hyun, Lee Si-woo and Choi Hee-jin are also considering appearing.

'Love Cloud' is a romantic comedy that tells the story of Kang Woo-joo, a former flight instructor, and Ahn Ha-neul, a former trainee pilot, who reunite seven years later as an air traffic controller and a pilot in mysterious Jeju, where even love and weather become possible. Director Song Min-yeop is in charge of the direction, and writer Team Mad Rabbit wrote the script.

In particular, this KBS lineup holds deep meaning for Song Joong-ki as well. Through the KBS2 drama 'Descendants of the Sun', broadcast in 2016, he sparked syndrome-level popularity not only in Korea but across Asia. At the time, it recorded peak viewership ratings in the 38% range, and Song Joong-ki solidified his 'rom-com king' image through the character Yoo Si-jin.

Since then, Song Joong-ki has shown his talent across various genres, including 'Reborn Rich' and 'Vincenzo'. Among them, he had not appeared in terrestrial network dramas, especially KBS dramas, since 'Descendants of the Sun', so 'Love Cloud' is drawing attention as a return to his home turf for the first time in 10 years.
