BLACKPINK's Jisoo Addresses 'Tears' Directly: "I Hope You Don't Read Too Much Into It... I Wish There Would Be No Speculation" [What IS]

BLACKPINK's Jisoo has personally addressed speculation surrounding the tears she shed at the group's 10th-anniversary event.

On the 9th, Jisoo said through the fan communication platform Weverse, “Yesterday, I think it was difficult for everyone to easily bring up what they wanted to say, what they could say, what they were allowed to say, and even what they did not necessarily have to say, because the boundaries between them are difficult.”

She continued, “I just wanted to say that all four of us love each other so, so, so much, and that I wanted to express how incredibly precious we are to one another. A lot of people were surprised because I cried yesterday. I am human too. I am not a robot.”

She explained, “I hope people do not attach various meanings to my tears. I just want to gather up the many emotions and sum them up as being moved by the fact that we have spent 10 years together.”

She also asked rhetorically, “Was I the most sincere and upset this time because it was the first time I cried where people could see me?” and added, “I don't think so. Just because I didn't cry during the tour doesn't mean I wasn't moved.”

Finally, Jisoo added, “There may be misunderstandings and hurt feelings that arise because we don't talk, and it may be frustrating, but I sincerely hope that there will be no more negative talk or endless speculation about our 10th anniversary, which should have been a time for us to celebrate one another.”

Previously, BLACKPINK held a ‘Meet and Greet’ event commemorating their 10th debut anniversary on the 8th at the National Museum of Korea in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. However, fans voiced their dissatisfaction as several issues overlapped during the preparations for the event, including the notice being given just two days beforehand, the exact location and time being kept private, and guidance that only some members were scheduled to attend.

It was later settled that all four members would attend, but the fans' disappointment did not easily subside. On the day of the 10th anniversary, Jisoo said, “I think this anniversary has been a day when I feel especially sorry. I always wanted to show only my best side and exist as someone who brings happiness during difficult moments, but my heart feels heavy because so many BLINKs are upset.”

Even during the BLACKPINK live broadcast held just before the event, Jisoo apologized again, saying, “I was well aware that this was our 10th anniversary and that it was an important day, but there was a problem in the communication process. I am sorry.”

When Jisoo was seen in tears as she left the event venue, some speculated that her tears might carry a meaning related to BLACKPINK's future activities, such as a breakup. However, Jisoo cautioned against reading too much into them.
