Blackpink Jisoo’s side on family controversy: “No awareness of privacy after early independence… No financial or management ties” [Full text]

BLACKPINK's Jisoo has stated her position regarding the family controversy.

On the 20th, lawyer Eun Hyeon-ho of Kim & Chang Law Firm, the legal representative of Jisoo's agency Blissoo, expressed grave regret that acts of linking the artist and Blissoo to family-related matters spreading in recent media reports, online communities, and SNS, or defaming them with false information, are being carried out recklessly.

The legal representative said that the issue currently being raised has nothing to do with the artist or Blissoo, and that much of the information circulating online is unverified speculation or clearly false information.

He added that Jisoo began trainee life as a child, became independent at an early age, and has lived apart from her family for a long time, so she is in no position to know about or be involved in that person's private life.

He also emphasized that although there was some limited help from family members in relaying advice and conversations during the preparation process for founding Blissoo, family members have never received any compensation from Blissoo or participated in decision-making from then until now.

Blissoo stated that the company has since been operated completely independently, unrelated to family members, and that claims raised by some that "that person and the artist founded it together" or "that person is an executive or the CEO of Blissoo" are not true at all.

It also added that the person in question currently has no legal or managerial relationship with Blissoo, and that Blissoo and the artist are not providing any financial or legal support to that person and have no plans to do so in the future.

The legal representative pointed out that continuously spreading false information or using the artist's name, likeness, or image in unrelated matters for consumption and dissemination constitutes a clear violation of rights and defamation.

Accordingly, it warned that all possible civil and criminal legal measures will be taken immediately against the writing and distribution of posts spreading false information and defamation, the use of the artist's name, likeness, or image in unrelated matters, and the conversion of unverified speculation into articles or content.

In particular, it said that it will respond firmly, without any leniency or settlement, to malicious or repeat poster authors and distributors.

Previously, controversy arose when it was reported that a person identified as a family member of Jisoo was arrested on suspicion of attempting inappropriate physical contact with a female BJ.

Regarding family-related matters involving an artist under Blissoo that have recently been spreading through some media reports, online communities, SNS, and so on, we express grave regret that acts of linking the artist and Blissoo to the issue or defaming them based on false information are being carried out recklessly.

First, the issue currently being raised has nothing whatsoever to do with the artist or Blissoo, and much of the information being spread online consists of unverified speculation or clearly false information.

The artist began trainee life as a child, became independent at an early age, and has lived apart from her family for a long time, so she is in no position to know about or be involved in that person's private life.

Also, while the artist did receive help from family members as intermediaries for some limited advice and conversations with related parties during the preparation process for Blissoo's establishment, family members have never received compensation from Blissoo or participated in decision-making from then until now. Since then, the company has been operated completely independently, with no connection whatsoever to family members.

In particular, the claims circulating in some media and online that "that person and the artist founded it hand in hand" or that "that person is an executive or the CEO of Blissoo" are not true at all, and we clearly state that that person currently has no legal or managerial relationship with Blissoo.

In addition, Blissoo and the artist are not providing any financial or legal support to that person, and there are no plans to provide such support in the future. They are also not engaging in or involved with this matter in any way.

Nevertheless, continuously spreading false information or using the artist's name, likeness, or image in unrelated matters for consumption and dissemination constitutes a clear violation of rights and defamation.

Accordingly, our legal representative sternly warns that all possible civil and criminal legal measures will be taken immediately against the following acts.

1. Acts of spreading false information and writing/distributing defamation posts

2. Acts of using the artist's name, likeness, or image in unrelated matters

3. Acts of turning unverified speculation into articles or content

In particular, we make it clear that we will respond firmly, without any leniency or settlement, to malicious or repeat poster authors and distributors.
