Blue Square is a large Seoul performance venue that opened in November 2011, hosting musicals and live performances at Woori Bank Hall and Woori WON Banking Hall. Blue Square Became Two Performance Venues in November 2011
Blue Square was established in November 2011 as part of a private investment facility project intended to promote the development of the performance industry, advance popular culture and the arts, and improve the cultural welfare of local residents. Therefore, it is a modern cultural facility designed primarily for attending performances rather than a place for touring specific historic sites.
Its official introduction describes Blue Square as the largest performance venue in Korea, consisting of Woori Bank Hall and Woori WON Banking Hall. Foreign visitors making their first visit should first check which hall their booked performance is in, as the two halls have different seating layouts and viewing experiences.
Seating Differences to Check in Woori Bank Hall’s 1,766 Seats
Woori Bank Hall is a musical-theater venue with a total of 1,766 seats. The first floor has 1,066 seats, the second floor has 430 seats, and the third floor has 270 seats. The first floor includes 76 orchestra-pit seats, 18 wheelchair spaces, and 14 parent-and-child seats.
The distance from the edge of the stage to the very back row is approximately 27 m on the first floor, where the seats are arranged in a staggered layout. The distance from the first row of the second floor to the stage is 18.5 m. Reviews from 2025 noted that the stage may appear somewhat small from the rear of the second floor and from all seats on the third floor, while side seats may provide slightly weaker stereo effects than center seats.
Woori WON Banking Hall Switches Between Seated and Standing Layouts
Woori WON Banking Hall is a multipurpose venue operated with either a ground-level layout seating 1,379 people or a standing capacity of approximately 2,400 people. Although standing events can accommodate around 2,400 people, the official information also recommends 2,000 people, so the atmosphere can differ depending on the event format even in the same hall.
In the seated configuration, the first floor has 998 seats and the second floor has 381 seats; the second-floor total includes 10 wheelchair spaces. With a flexible audience-seating system and a D&B sound system, it is suited to live performances and multipurpose events, unlike Woori Bank Hall, which is dedicated to musicals.
NEMO and Book Park Lounge, Built with 18 Containers
NEMO is a multicultural space created by connecting and combining 18 shipping containers. Exhibitions in fine art, graphic design, video, and architecture are held here, along with art fairs, symposiums, and seminars. Even without a performance ticket, the purpose of access may vary depending on how each event is operated.
Book Park Lounge is on the third floor of Woori Bank Hall and offers a curated collection of more than 3,000 books as well as café items. As of August 24, 2026, it is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11:30 to 21:00 and closed every Monday; the last order on weekends and public holidays is at 19:00. The contact number is 0507-1312-0539.
How to Enter Through the Area Between Hangangjin Station Exits 2 and 3
When traveling by subway, set Hangangjin Station on Seoul Subway Line 6 as your destination. Blue Square can be reached through the subway connection passage between Hangangjin Station Exits 2 and 3, so using the passage inside the station is clearer than trying to find the building from street level.
Buses 110A, 405, and 400 stop near Hangangjin Station Exit 1, while buses 110B, 405, and 400 stop near Exit 2. At the Seoul Jungbu Technical Education Center–Blue Square stop, trunk and night buses 110B, 142, 144, 402, 407, 420, and N13, branch buses 3011 and 6211, and airport bus 6030 stop. If you get off at the Soonchunhyang University Hospital stop, you will need to walk approximately 10 minutes toward Hangangjin Station.
Enter the Official Address in Your Taxi App First Because the Addresses Differ
The official address is Blue Square, 294 Itaewon-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Because this differs from the user-provided address of 2nd Floor, 234 Itaewon-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, first-time foreign visitors are advised to enter Itaewon-ro 294, the address listed on the official website, in their taxi or map app. The reason for the difference between the two addresses has not been confirmed.
The official website is https://www.bluesquare.kr/, and the customer service number is 1544-1591. There are no standard operating hours or general admission fees for all of Blue Square; performance hours and ticket prices vary by performance booking page. In other words, entering the building and attending a specific performance are separate conditions of use.
Parking from 07:00 to 24:00, but the 30 Minutes After a Performance Matter
The parking lot operates from 07:00 to 24:00, and vehicles cannot exit between 24:00 and 07:00. The official information states that the parking lot may be full at any time, so visitors attending a performance may find it more practical to use the Hangangjin Station connection passage rather than drive. Performance attendees can receive discounted parking validation using their ticket QR code.
Prepayment is available starting 20 minutes after entry, and you must exit within 30 minutes after the performance ends. Electric-vehicle chargers are on the left side of the entrance ramp on basement level 3, and up to four vehicles can charge simultaneously using slow chargers. If a vehicle remains parked 14 hours after charging begins, it may be subject to a fine of up to 200,000 won.
How to Prepare Opera Glasses and Luggage Storage Before a Performance
The opera-glass rental fee is 5,000 won as of August 24, 2026. Pick-up is available from one hour before the performance until 10 minutes before it begins, and advance reservations can be made until three hours before the performance on the day. If you booked seats at the rear of the second floor or on the third floor, this service may help improve visibility, although differences in sightlines between seats remain.
Luggage storage is provided free of charge for two hours to performance attendees. Additional charges are 1,000 won per hour for small items, 2,000 won for medium items, and 3,000 won for large items, payable by credit card. According to 2025 reviews, photography and video recording during performances, including the curtain call, were prohibited, so visitors expecting to record the stage may be stopped on site.
From the Café at 08:00 to Book Park at 21:00: What Is Available on Non-Performance Days
Café de Blue is located beneath the elevated structure beside Blue Square’s above-ground parking lot. As of August 24, 2026, it operates from 10:00 to 19:00 on Mondays and from 08:00 to 20:00 Tuesday through Sunday. The contact number is 070-4647-1585. Solos Kitchen is on the first floor of Woori Bank Hall (the third audience-seating level); it operates Tuesday through Friday from 12:00 to 20:00 and Saturday through Sunday from 12:00 to 19:00, is closed every Monday, and can be reached at 02-6399-7544.
Accessibility features confirmed include accessible parking, a step-free main entrance route, elevators, accessible restrooms, and dedicated accessible seating. However, the availability of English information or a general audio guide, the permitted scope of photography for each performance, and the recommended length of stay for Blue Square as a whole have not been confirmed. Performance viewing times vary according to each production’s running time, so plan your schedule based on the booking page for your performance.
