Photo Spots

  • Ojak Bridge: The most popular photo spot in Gwanghallu Garden. Taking a photo from on or near the bridge, facing toward Gwanghallu, captures both the traditional pavilion and the water scenery. Late afternoon to sunset is the most reliable time, and at night the lights create a great atmosphere for photos.
  • Moon sculpture photo zone: A representative night photography spot near Ojak Bridge. Standing with the moon sculpture in front works well, or you can capture a person’s silhouette with the moon from behind. The best time is after sunset when the lights come on, and because it is a popular spot, you may have to wait briefly.
  • Around Wonnwoljeong Pavilion: A good stop to combine with the moon sculpture area. Set your camera so that the pond and pavilion are both visible to create a balanced composition. During the sunset hour, the soft light is great for portraits.
  • Pond area in front of Gwanghallu: The best place to capture the main building in a classic, straightforward way. If you shoot from the edge of the pond toward the front of Gwanghallu, you can also aim for a reflection shot. It is relatively quiet in the morning, and the late afternoon has warm tones.
  • Walking paths around Yeongjagak and Bangjangjeong: Good for taking traditional pavilion photos in a quieter setting. If you shoot from the path while looking diagonally toward the pavilion, the trees and buildings come into the frame and add depth. It is convenient to move around and take photos from morning to early afternoon.
  • Around Chunhyang Shrine: Recommended when you want a calm traditional Korean atmosphere rather than a flashy background. If you shoot toward the front or side of the building in front of the shrine, you will get a neat composition. Morning is relatively quiet, making it good for relaxed photography.

Namwon Gwanghallu Garden is especially beautiful at night, with soft lighting illuminating the garden, pavilions, and pond to create a calm and mysterious atmosphere. The garden beauty of the Joseon dynasty and the space inspired by the Moon Palace are blended with the lighting, making it ideal for both photography and a stroll.

To enjoy the night scenery at its best, it is recommended to visit after sunset and before closing time, ideally 1-2 hours beforehand. Special night event information may vary by period, but the night opening itself is the biggest attraction. After the lights come on, we recommend slowly walking around and enjoying the scenery around the pavilions and waterside.
