Mark (27, Mark Lee), the Canadian-national member of the group NCT, has ended his exclusive contract with his agency SM Entertainment and left the team, signaling a "second act" in his life.

SM stated on the 3rd, "After long discussions about Mark's future activities, we agreed to conclude the exclusive contract effective April 8."

Mark joined SM Rookies in 2013 and debuted with NCT in 2016. He has been active in NCT U, NCT 127, and NCT DREAM, and debuted as a solo artist last year. Fans were left in shock by the news of a core member leaving the team after 10 years.

In a handwritten letter, Mark reflected, "I was truly happy for 10 years," and acknowledged that this decision may feel sudden. He mentioned dreams he has held since his trainee days (busking with an acoustic guitar, interest in writing in English/being an author, etc.), saying he gained many experiences through NCT activities and now wants to fully immerse himself in the things he dreams of.

He also expressed gratitude that every member supported him without exception, and thanked fans for 10 years of love and support, while expressing concern that "this change may cause shock and hurt."

NCT members also shared their thoughts and support regarding Mark's departure. Doyoung called Mark "a friend I love unchanged" and asked people to refrain from prejudice and speculation. Jeno expressed regret and apology for not handling the situation well and asked that people watch over Dream going forward.

Jisung said he respects each person's life and choices and supports Mark's future, Haechan asked fans not to be too sad and to view his upcoming activities with a kind heart. Jaemin requested that people support Mark, and Renjun said he would give happiness and strength as NCT Dream.

With Mark's departure, NCT DREAM has been reorganized into a six-member lineup: Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle, and Jisung.
