tvN Made a Big Splash… Hit a Peak Viewership Rating of 5.7% and Took No. 1 in Its Time Slot, Sparking a Living-Room Theater Moment with the Korean Variety Show (“You Quiz on the Block”)
The special episode of 'You Quiz,' themed 'It Is Not Over Until It Is Over,' cemented its place as a popular variety show.
The 351st episode of tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' (directed by Heo Kang-seok and Kim Ji-young, written by Lee Eon-ju), which aired on the 15th (Wed), ranked No. 1 in its time slot among cable and general programming channels, with an average of 4.2% and a peak of 5.7% based on households in the capital area, and an average of 4.0% and a peak of 5.4% nationwide. The program also proved its popularity by ranking No. 1 in its time slot across all channels, including terrestrial broadcasters, in the 20-49 target demographic that tvN targets. In the episode themed 'It Is Not Over Until It Is Over,' guests included Senior Detective Son Hee-min of the narcotics crime investigation unit, who tracks drug crimes that have penetrated deeply into our daily lives; TVING baseball commentators Hwang Jae-gyun, Yoon Seok-min, Jeong Geun-woo, and Lee Taek-geun, who are active with sharper wit than a fastball; Professor Jeong Il-young, 65, who realized his dream of becoming a professor after 30 years as a part-time lecturer; and singer Lee So-ra, who returned after 7 years following a long period of seclusion. They shared sincere conversations with Yoo Jae-seok.
At the end of the broadcast, a surprise greeting from Hollywood star Matt Damon, who is set to visit Korea in August with director Christopher Nolan for the film 'Odyssey,' was revealed. Matt Damon said, "MC Yoo, hello, dear sir. We are very excited to share the news that Director Christopher Nolan and I will appear on 'You Quiz.' We will see you soon," raising anticipation.
Next week, first-time co-guests will include brothers-in-law Kim Kang-woo and Ki Sung-yueng; Jeon Geun-bae and Jang Yang-yong, caretakers of the white lion siblings, the popular stars at Daegu Zoo; Professor Kim Woong-han, who has made 8,000 children's hearts beat again in pediatric cardiothoracic surgery; and chef Lee Dong-jun, the 'French Papa' from 'Black and White Chef 2,' along with Lee Dong-ha, a corporate sales representative who does entirely different work despite sharing the same genes.
tvN's variety program 'You Quiz on the Block' has been airing since 2018 and is one of tvN's flagship variety shows. In its early days, Yoo Jae-seok and Jo Se-ho would go out onto the streets themselves, meet citizens, and share small everyday stories in a street talk show format. Starting with Season 3, which began after COVID-19, street filming became difficult, so the format changed to pre-arranged guests and indoor interviews. tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' airs every Wednesday at 8:45 p.m.
