‘Small-Company Stone Miracle’ of Lisenne—Was about to lose all members’ names… Late patent filing → “At least I’m glad I did it now”

[TV Report = Reporter Kim Do-hyeon] Rookie girl group Rescene, which is truly showing the miracle of a small-agency act, has been confirmed to have filed trademark applications for the members' stage names rather late.
According to the patent information search service KIPRIS on the 14th, Rescene's agency The Muse Entertainment completed the trademark application procedures on June 25 for the members' stage names: 'LIV,' 'WONI,' 'MINAMI,' 'MAY,' and 'ZENA.' The trademarks are currently all in the 'applied for' status and are undergoing review.

In the music industry, it is generally customary to file trademark rights for a group name, as well as members' stage names and even candidate names, before debut or at the same time as debut in order to secure them first. This is because members' names and stage names are directly tied to various derivative businesses such as merchandise, performances, and collaborations with various brands. In the case of major entertainment companies, they thoroughly secure these in advance to manage risks, whereas in Rescene's case, the group name (RESCENE) was properly registered in March 2024, around the time of debut, but the filing for the members' individual stage names was somewhat delayed.

As this news spread, a variety of reactions poured in online. Netizens expressed relief, saying, "It's a relief that they won't have their names taken by someone else while they're gaining popularity through a reverse-chart climb," and "It's good that they handled it now," while also voicing disappointment at the agency's late response, saying, "Is this the limit of a small agency?" and "It's hard to understand how they are only filing it now when they debuted so long ago."

Rescene has recently begun receiving serious attention as its song 'Love Attack' climbed back up the music charts. In particular, the content 'My Uncle Yeonsu' released last year and member Woni's dialect-and-gyaru concept on her personal channel drew major attention on short-form platforms, helping boost the group's recognition.
Riding its upward momentum, Rescene released the remake single 'Pretty Girl' on the 8th, reinterpreting a hit song by senior group KARA, and continues to carry out active promotions.
