"Mexico’s President Personally Welcomes Them" BTS Appears on the Palace Balcony, Plunging the Plaza into Gridlock with “State Visit-Level Treatment”

[Sports Chosun reporter Jo Min-jeong] The group BTS went up to the balcony of the Mexican presidential palace and interacted directly with fans, heating up the scene.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum officially invited BTS to the National Palace on the 6th (local time) and held a meeting. Afterward, the members moved to the palace balcony and appeared before fans filling Zocalo Square.

Photos released from the scene show the seven members—RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook—standing side by side on the balcony and greeting fans. The members, each wearing a different suit style, waved their hands or smiled brightly, looking at the scene with relaxed expressions.

In another scene, J-Hope was seen spreading both arms wide to actively encourage a response, while some members leaned on the railing and looked down, making eye contact with fans. V and RM waved with calm smiles, and Jin and Jungkook leaned forward to respond to the cheers from the fans.

In particular, one shot showed the members offering fan service in their own ways, such as making finger hearts or clapping. Inside the balcony, the palace interior with a splendid chandelier was visible, adding to the elegant atmosphere.

At the scene, the members used microphones to share their awkward Spanish greetings with fans, saying things like "I love you," "Mexico is really the best," and "See you again."

This meeting was arranged ahead of the Mexico concerts starting on the 7th. BTS will hold three performances on the 7th, 9th, and 10th, and tickets sold out completely as soon as reservations opened, proving their tremendous popularity.

Meanwhile, BTS visited Mexico for the first time in about nine years since 2017, and this visit is also expected to have a significant ripple effect on the local economy.
