“GIRIGO” Kang Mina on not reuniting with I.O.I: “It was my best effort” [Interview ④]

Actor Kang Mi-na showed support for the group's I.O.I reunion.

On the morning of the 29th, an interview with Kang Mi-na, who appeared in the Netflix series 'Girigo,' was held at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

That day, when asked whether it was disappointing that she could not join I.O.I's 10th anniversary comeback, Kang Mi-na opened by saying, "I don't know the details, but I understand they started preparing from the second half of last year."

She continued, "I only finished filming a drama a month ago, and I have another shoot coming up, and in between there are promotional schedules for the project as well. So I told the members that it would be hard for me to take part in the schedule," adding, "That was the best choice."

Excluding Kang Mi-na, I.O.I will release its new album 'I.O.I: Loop' on May 19 and hold a solo concert at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul from the 29th to the 31st.

Kang Mi-na expressed affection, saying, "I'm so close with the members that even if we don't say much, we know we're supporting each other. Even just pressing 'like' on SNS makes me feel, 'You're watching, you're cheering me on.' They also leave lots of comments on posts. I'm always grateful, and I'm supporting them too."

When asked whether she has any intention of making a surprise visit to I.O.I's schedule, she said, "I do. But I don't know any information about rehearsals or schedules, so a surprise might be difficult," adding, "When we meet, we usually share things like dieting tips and good restaurants. Since we know how hard things are for each other, we intentionally talk about light topics."

'Girigo,' released on the 24th, tells the story of high school students who are suddenly foretold to die because of the curse of the app Girigo, and who struggle to avoid that curse.
