Former SBS announcer Kim Su-min boldly reveals sponsor... 'A vow to stake her entire fortune' [RE:Star]

On the 10th, Kim Sumin posted two photos on her account with the caption, "Things are complicated this and that, but I will attend one more semester. I will return to the United States in August and take the fall semester via online lectures."

The photos captured the process of submitting a 'Sponsor’s Financial Attestation (financial guarantee document)'. Kim Sumin, who is enrolled at UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles), said about submitting the financial attestation, "It feels strange to have my account balance shaken out." The financial attestation requires submitting a bank balance certificate from the applicant or the sponsor. Kim Sumin wrote her husband's name in the sponsor name field of the document and joked, "Thank you for the vow staking all assets, please support your wife diligently."

Kim Sumin passed the SBS open competitive recruitment as an announcer at the age of 21, gaining attention as the youngest announcer in SBS history. She majored in Visual Arts at the Korea National University of Arts but became interested in broadcasting, prepared for the announcer exam, passed, and hosted several programs. In June 2021, she left SBS and transitioned to freelancing to work as a broadcaster.

On May 15 last year, in response to a social media question asking "How do you avoid comparing yourself to other announcers?", she replied, "I don't know that method either, so I quit. Even if others say someone is pretty, if I think I'm not pretty, that's the end," indirectly referring to her reasons for leaving.

Kim Sumin married a non-celebrity legal professional five years older than her in 2022, and gave birth to a son in December of the same year. She later gave birth to her second child, a daughter, in May 2025. She is currently enrolled at UCLA in the United States and is living there with her husband, who is on parental leave, and their children.
