[Exclusive] SEVENTEEN's Seungkwan Passes Selection as an Army Military Band Member... Enlisting This Year

(Seoul=News1) Reporter Ko Seung-a = SEVENTEEN member Seungkwan (28, real name Boo Seungkwan) has passed the selection for a military band.

According to News1's report on the 10th, Seungkwan applied and was accepted as an Army military band soldier. He is scheduled to enlist this year.

Seungkwan is consequently expected to begin his mandatory military service following Jeonghan, Wonwoo, Woozi, Hoshi, Vernon, and DK from the group.

Seungkwan, who debuted with SEVENTEEN in 2015, gained immense popularity by releasing hit songs including 'Adore U,' 'Mansae,' 'Pretty U,' 'Very Nice,' 'Don't Wanna Cry,' 'Clap,' 'Oh My!,' 'Left & Right,' 'Rock with You,' 'Super,' and 'Maestro.'

Alongside his group activities, he also performed in the units BSS and DK X Seungkwan. As the group's main vocalist, Seungkwan has received immense love for his outstanding live performances and distinctive vocal tone. He has also consistently participated in writing and composing SEVENTEEN's music, showcasing his musical abilities.

He has also distinguished himself in variety shows. He has appeared in 'Unexpected Q,' 'Prison Life of Fools,' 'Racket Boys,' 'Devil's Plan,' and 'New Director Kim Yeon-koung,' among others, delivering memorable performances. He will also join the new season of TVING's 'The Great Escape,' scheduled for release in the second half of the year.

In particular, all the members of SEVENTEEN, to which Seungkwan belongs, recently renewed their contracts with PLEDIS Entertainment for a second time, marking a meaningful 11th anniversary.

SEVENTEEN is currently going through a 'military hiatus.' Member Wonwoo is serving as a social service worker, while Hoshi and Woozi are continuing their military service as active-duty Army soldiers. Vernon will begin alternative service on the 20th, and DK will begin serving as an active-duty Army soldier on September 8.

Jeonghan became the group's first member to complete his military service when he was discharged from social service in June. Mingyu and Dino are scheduled to enlist in the future. Leader S.Coups was exempted from military service due to a ruptured cruciate ligament, while Joshua, Jun, and The8 are foreign members.
