'Cheonrokdam' Lee Jung, ♥Thanks to my wife, discovered kidney cancer and achieved a cure... "Heaven helped"

Lee Jung, who is active as trot singer "Cheon Rok-dam," expressed gratitude, saying he was able to detect kidney cancer early and be cured thanks to his wife.

MBC's entertainment program "Radio Star," which aired on the 18th, was put together as a special episode titled "Mr. Voice," featuring comedian Kim Tae-kyun, singer Cheon Rok-dam Lee Jung, former baseball player-turned-commentator Lee Dae-hyung, and Forestella member Go Woo-rim.

On the show that day, Lee Jung said about his current health condition after being diagnosed with kidney cancer three years ago, "I am cured now and continuing to manage it well."

Lee Jung, now in his third year of treatment, said, "Heaven helped me. Right after we got married, there was a health checkup the following year. My wife said, 'Oppa, try getting an abdominal CT scan this year too.' I did it without thinking, and that's where it was found."

He said he had been unable to tell anyone about the test results for several months, saying he wondered, 'How should I say this? Should I just have the surgery quietly by myself?' and added that after learning the news, his wife had the hardest time.

When MC Kim Gook-jin asked, "Did you also undergo chemotherapy?" Lee Jung replied, "I didn't. Fortunately, treatment ended with surgery." He went on to say, "Kidney cancer is rarely found early, but I was lucky enough to receive treatment successfully in the early stages, so I think I am living again."

He then said, "At the time, I kept having all sorts of thoughts, like 'I don't think I'll be able to sing anymore,' and 'They say it ends if you have surgery, but does it really end?' Going through that made the world look completely different."

MC Jang Do-yeon said, "Your expression changed and the atmosphere shifted; that must have been a big reason," and Lee Jung said, "That played a big part. On top of that, I can sing again, which I love, so I'm grateful."

He continued, "If I hadn't gotten married, I still wouldn't have known about the kidney cancer now, but thanks to my wife, the disease was discovered early. Since then, I have been managing it well and listening to my wife very closely," showing his affection for her.

Lee Jung debuted in 2002 as a member of the group Seven Dayz, and later continued his career as a solo singer with songs such as "Separation," "Only Looking at You," and "A Sigh Only." He is currently active as a trot singer under the stage name "Cheon Rok-dam." In 2021, he became legally married by registering his marriage with his wife, a native of Jeju, and held a wedding ceremony somewhere in Jeju-do in May 2022. Lee Jung was diagnosed with stage 1 kidney cancer in February 2023 and underwent surgery.
