Bangtan Sonyeondan in Full Lineup After Military Discharge... 'Arirang' and Billboard 200 No. 1 for the 7th Time [Oh!ssen Issue]

The group BTS's first full-group release after military discharge, their fifth studio album 'Arirang' (ARIRANG), has taken the No. 1 spot on the US main album chart 'Billboard 200'.

US Billboard reported in a chart preview article that 'Arirang' topped the chart, surpassing albums by Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, and others. Accordingly, BTS has now recorded a No. 1 album on the US chart following their success in the UK.

'Billboard 200' ranks albums based on album units, which combine physical album sales, digital audio streaming (SEA), and downloads (TEA).

'Arirang' recorded 641,000 units in its first week. Of these, 532,000 were pure sales of physical and digital albums, showing a high level of sales for a group album, and the album also ranked No. 1 on the 'Top Album Sales' chart.

Streaming equivalent (SEA) amounted to 95,000 units, corresponding to 99.1 million on-demand official streams of the tracks. This is the highest streaming figure for a BTS album, and it debuted at No. 1 on the 'Top Streaming Albums' chart as well.

Billboard explained that this performance is a high figure even compared to recent major album releases.

This is the seventh time a BTS release has reached No. 1 on the 'Billboard 200'. They previously topped the chart with 'LOVE YOURSELF 轉 Tear' in 2018, followed by 'LOVE YOURSELF 結 ANSWER', 'MAP OF THE SOUL : PERSONA', 'MAP OF THE SOUL : 7', 'BE', and 'Proof'.

The fifth album 'Arirang' recorded No. 1 on the UK's Official Albums Chart 'Top 100' and also No. 1 on the US 'Billboard 200'.
