BLACKPINK’s Lisa to Perform at the World Cup Opening Ceremony… On the Same Stage as Katy Perry

BLACKPINK's Lisa is reported to appear on the stage of the opening ceremony for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Athletic, a U.S. sports media outlet, reported on the 8th (local time) that FIFA is preparing a 2026 World Cup opening ceremony performance with global artists including Lisa.

The 2026 North, Central American and Caribbean World Cup will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with separate opening ceremonies scheduled before the first match in each host country.

According to the report, Lisa will appear on the stage before the match between the United States and Paraguay at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, United States. Katy Perry, Future, and DJ Sanjoy are also expected to appear on the same stage.

In Toronto, Canada, Michael Buble, Alanis Morissette, and Alessia Cara will perform, while in Mexico City, Mexico, at Estadio Azteca, Mana, Alejandro Fernandez, Belinda, and Tyla will take the stage.

The opening ceremony for this World Cup is reportedly expected to last about 13 minutes in the United States and Canada, and about 16 minutes and 30 seconds in Mexico.

This is not the first time a K-pop singer has taken the stage at a World Cup opening ceremony. During the 2022 Qatar World Cup, BTS's Jungkook drew major attention by presenting the official soundtrack, "Dreamers," at the opening ceremony.

Lisa is from Thailand and debuted as a member of BLACKPINK in 2016. Since then, she has also been active as a solo artist, continuing her global popularity. Her first solo single album, "LALISA," released in 2021, recorded sales of about 736,000 copies in its first week, setting the record for the highest first-week sales by a K-pop female solo singer at the time.
