[Second] BTS win their second Grand Prize at the American Music Awards, after all-time

Wins Artist of the Year for the first time in 5 years... A remarkable achievement just two months after the release of their 5th album, 'Arirang'

(Washington=Yonhap News) Correspondent Cho Jun-hyung = The group BTS won the 'Artist of the Year' award, the grand prize category, for the second time overall at the 'American Music Awards' (AMA), one of the three major popular music awards in the United States.

On the 25th (local time), BTS took home the 'Artist of the Year' trophy at the awards ceremony held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, USA, defeating strong nominees such as Bad Bunny, Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift.

The 'American Music Awards' is considered one of the three major popular music awards in the United States, along with the 'Grammy Awards' and the 'Billboard Music Awards' (BBMA). Winners in each category are chosen through fan voting.

BTS first won 'Artist of the Year' in November 2021 with the hit song 'Butter,' becoming the first Asian artist to do so.

After their military hiatus, they released their 5th full-length album 'Arirang' (ARIRANG) in March, and two months later they earned the honor of a second grand prize at a major U.S. music awards show.
