Photo Spots

  • Daereungwon Entrance: Right next to Hwangridan-gil, this is the representative photo spot and the easiest one to access in the Hwangnam-dong area. If you take a photo facing toward the tombs from in front of the entrance, it captures Gyeongju’s calm atmosphere well. Going in the morning means fewer people and softer light.
  • Hwangridan-gil Hanok Alley: An atmospheric street where hanok buildings and cafes coexist. If you shoot straight along the alley inward, the hanok rooflines and street mood come through together. Going in the late afternoon gives photos a warm tone.
  • Hwangridan-gil Color Photo Zone: The brightly colored photo zone at the entrance of the alley is great for taking pictures. Standing in front of the background and shooting from the front or slightly from the side emphasizes the colors. It looks clearest during the daytime.
  • Left Side of the Life Four-Cut Alley: This is a photo spot you come across after going deeper into Hwangridan-gil. If you stand facing the back of the alley and take the picture, the depth of the street stands out. At dusk is the most atmospheric time.
  • Woljeonggyo: One of Gyeongju’s popular photo landmarks. It is best to shoot while facing the bridge directly so the entire bridge is visible. Going just before evening gives the photo a pretty look with soft sky tones.
  • Cheomseongdae: A famous photo spot that is great to visit together with Hwangridan-gil. The most stable angle is from the front or slightly from below looking up at Cheomseongdae. A visit in the morning or around sunset is recommended.

Night View

Hwangridan-gil at night has a quieter and more relaxed atmosphere than during the day. Shortly after 10 p.m., the number of people on the street decreases, making it nice for a leisurely walk and to enjoy the night scenery without the crowds.

The surrounding area is well equipped with nighttime lighting, softly illuminating the alleys and walking paths. In particular, if you explore Donggung and Wolji together with Hwangridan-gil, you can enjoy traditional architecture and pond scenery reflected in the lights, which is ideal for experiencing Gyeongju-like night views.

The recommended time is from after sunset until around 10 p.m. If you go too late, some shops may close and the street may become quiet, so a light walk after dinner is the most practical plan.

If you want a longer walk, Bomun Lakeside Road is also a good choice. It has night lighting installed along its roughly 7 km course, making night walks possible, and you can either do the full route or only a short section.

Specific large-scale night event information should always be checked in advance, but in general, the lighting and the calm street atmosphere itself are the biggest nighttime attractions.
