Jincheon Nongdari: A 93.6 m Stone Bridge and Walks around Chopyeongho Lake

A 28-bay stone bridge from the Goryeo period remaining over Segumcheon in Munbaek-myeon

Jincheon Nongdari is a stone bridge spanning Segumcheon in front of Gulti Village, Gugok-ri, Munbaek-myeon, Jincheon-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do. Jincheon-gun’s official information classifies its construction period as the Goryeo period and, based on records in Sangsangji (1932), states that General Im built it in the early Goryeo period.

It was originally built with 28 bays by applying the 28 lunar mansions, and the official dimensions give its length as 93.6 m. Among the locally designated cultural heritage sites managed by Jincheon-gun, it is classified as tangible cultural heritage.

Its structure revealed by red gravelly rock and 80 cm water channels

The piers were built by stacking red natural gravelly rock like fish scales and placing capstones on top. Because the stones were dry-stacked so that their roots interlocked, the interior was not filled with lime mortar, and stones with clearly visible patterns were selected for the capstones.

The piers are generally 4 to 6 m wide, and their width and thickness narrow toward the top to reduce the effects of water. The Korea Tourism Organization’s accessible tourism information describes the bridge as 3.6 m wide, with piers approximately 1.2 m high and an inner width of approximately 80 cm between the piers.

Admission is free, but the bridge cannot be crossed after sunset

As of August 2026, admission to Jincheon Nongdari is free. There are no regular closure days, and although the Korea Tourism Organization lists it as open at all times year-round, Jincheon-gun’s official information explicitly prohibits entry after sunset.

Because Nongdari has no lighting facilities, visitors arriving for a nighttime walk or night photography cannot enter the bridge section. Entry is also prohibited when heavy rain or typhoon weather advisories are in effect. The official information does not confirm whether photography is prohibited or whether English guidance or an audio guide is available.

Traveling by city bus from Jincheon Bus Terminal to Jung-ri Stop

Visitors from outside the area can start at Jincheon Bus Terminal. The official information recommends taking a city bus toward Munbaek and getting off at Jung-ri Stop; no dedicated free shuttle bus to Nongdari operates.

Examples of departures from Jincheon Bus Terminal and arrivals at Jung-ri are 06:30→06:50, 08:00→08:20, and 09:30→09:50. Later services are also listed as 10:30→10:50, 11:50→12:10, 13:30→13:50, 15:30→15:50, 16:20→16:40, 17:20→17:40, 18:30→18:50, and 19:50→20:10. For the return trip, a departure from Jung-ri at 20:15 and arrival at Jincheon Bus Terminal at 20:40 are provided, although times may vary depending on bus conditions.

The exact route number has not been confirmed. Bus schedule inquiries can be made with Jincheon Passenger Transport at 043-533-1501, so it is safest to inquire before departure during periods with infrequent service.

Search for Nongdari Storium and pay the parking fee by card

For car navigation, the official information recommends searching for “Nongdari Storium,” 1032-11 Nongdari-ro, Munbaek-myeon, Jincheon-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, rather than the address of Nongdari itself, and then using the Nongdari parking lot. Parking costs 4,000 won for ordinary vehicles, 8,000 won for buses, and 50,000 won for vehicles parked long-term for 12 hours; card payment only is accepted.

People with disabilities, persons of national merit, eco-friendly vehicles, and compact cars receive a 50% discount. Jincheon residents park free on weekdays and receive a 50% discount on weekends. Buses may use only Parking Lot 1, while the temporary parking lot opens only on weekends and public holidays. Parking on road shoulders, sidewalks, or grass is prohibited, and violators are towed immediately.

The parking lot, which had been free, became paid starting January 2, 2025. It was operated free of charge during the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday from February 14 to 18. Visitors must walk from the parking lot to the bridge, but a 2025 visitor review noted that the distance was not far.

Whether to walk only 93.6 m and turn back or continue to Chopyeong Lake

Turning back after seeing only Nongdari makes for a short cultural heritage visit, but the surrounding area has pavilions and walking paths, as well as a waterside deck connecting to Chopyeong Reservoir. One review recorded that it took about two hours to complete the Nongdari–Chopyeong Lake–walking trail course.

The route toward Chopyeong Lake continues uphill. One review describes the surrounding hiking trail as “very steep,” while another says that after crossing the bridge, visitors climb uphill and continue onto a walking path around Chopyeong Lake. Routes including a metasequoia path and Nongdari Waterfall, along with an artificial waterfall and several observatories, are also mentioned.

Allow at least another hour for Haneuldari and the suspension bridge

Visitor reviews say that the surrounding courses include, in addition to Nongdari, stepping stones, a floating bridge, Haneuldari, the Mir Suspension Bridge, and observatories. Another record says that a round trip from the Nongdari entrance through Haneuldari to the suspension bridge took a little over an hour, so the time required differs from an itinerary that visits only one bridge.

Reviews say that the suspension bridge sways considerably when crowded, so travelers sensitive to movement should assess the conditions before crossing. One review mentions that the flower path from Nongdari to Haneuldari takes about five minutes, but comfortable shoes are appropriate because mountain paths and uphill sections may follow.

Crossing the 80 cm inner width after rain and the limits of accessible use

The Korea Tourism Organization’s accessible tourism information states that there are dedicated disabled parking spaces and an accessible restroom. A 2022 visitor review recorded that the nearby restroom was relatively clean and had toilet paper.

However, whether Nongdari itself can be used by wheelchairs or strollers has not been confirmed, and steep uphill sections and mountain paths are mentioned on the walking route toward Chopyeong Lake. This is a stone bridge with an inner width of approximately 80 cm between its piers, and a 2025 review said that the water level rose after rain and required caution when crossing. Users of strollers or wheelchairs should therefore not plan the bridge and uphill route in the same way.

Jincheon-gun’s official tourism information lists Nongdari’s address as 128 Gusan-dong-ri, Munbaek-myeon, Jincheon-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, while the Korea Tourism Organization’s accessible tourism information lists it as 601-32 Gusan-dong-ri, Munbaek-myeon, Jincheon-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do. The address provided by the user, 725 Jingwang-ro, Iwol-myeon, Jincheon-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, belongs to Wonjo Jungwon Top Makguksu Jincheon Iwol Branch, so it is safer not to enter it directly into navigation as the Nongdari destination.
