Best Time to Visit
Sojungbang Falls is open year-round and can be visited at any time, but the most recommended seasons are spring and autumn, when the weather is relatively pleasant. Summer is hot and humid, making it feel more tiring, and on rainy days the path can be slippery, so caution is needed.
The best time to visit is early in the morning. It is relatively quiet, making it easy to enjoy at a relaxed pace, and getting around is also convenient. In the afternoon, the number of visitors may increase somewhat, so it can become a little more crowded.
Weekdays are recommended. On weekends and public holidays, it can get busier as more people visit nearby attractions together. The total sightseeing time is usually short, around 20 to 40 minutes, so it is a good stop for a light visit in the morning on a weekday during a trip to southern Jeju.
How Long to Stay
At Sojungbang Falls, 10 to 20 minutes is enough for a quick visit, and about 30 minutes is suitable if you include taking photos and walking around the area. If you also visit nearby attractions such as Jeongbang Falls, it is practical to plan for a total of 1 to 2 hours.

Photo Spots
- Front coastal rock area: From the entrance, go down to the rocky coast in front of the waterfall and take photos facing the waterfall head-on. It is a great spot to capture both the multiple streams of water and the seaside atmosphere. The best time is from late afternoon until just before sunset.
- Viewpoint on the suspension bridge: Take photos near the center of the suspension bridge above the waterfall while looking toward the sea. It is a great place for portrait photos with the distant ocean as a backdrop, creating a refreshing composition. The best time is late morning on a clear day or around sunset.
- Side-angle path by the waterfall: From the path leading down to the coast or from the side of the waterfall, take photos at an angle while looking toward the falls. Including both people and the waterfall helps emphasize its scale. The best time is early morning or late afternoon, when the light is soft.
- Sunset mood shot spot: From the coastal area where you can capture both the sea and the waterfall in a wide frame, do not place the western sky behind you; instead, include the direction of the sunset in the frame. It is especially good for atmospheric photos and videos. The best time is from 30 minutes before sunset until just after.
Night View
The night scenery of Sojungbang Falls feels even more atmospheric with the surrounding lights added. After dark, the lights illuminating the waterfall and nearby path create a calm setting for an evening stroll accompanied by the sound of water.
The recommended visiting time is from after sunset until around 9 p.m. Late at night, admission closure or on-site operating hours may differ, so it is best to check the latest operating hours before visiting.
At night, lighting is the key element of the scenery, so the overall atmosphere can change depending on the lighting conditions. There is no fixed information about special nighttime events, so please also check Jeju regional tourism information for festivals or seasonal events.
Seasonal Guide
Sojungbang Falls is a coastal waterfall attraction that changes in atmosphere with each season, making it a great short stop.
Spring (March to April)
It is a great time to visit along with cherry blossom season across Jeju. The mild weather makes it comfortable for walking, and it is nice for a light sightseeing stop with coastal scenery.
Summer
The waterfall has abundant water volume, creating a cool and dynamic landscape. It is especially suitable as a summer travel destination in July. However, as it tends to rain often, prepare an umbrella or a light raincoat. The ground can be slippery, so anti-slip shoes are useful.
Autumn (October to November)
It is a good season to plan an itinerary that combines a Jeju trip with the Hallasan autumn foliage season. The air is cool and relatively comfortable, making it suitable for outdoor sightseeing.
Winter
It is a good time to visit relatively quietly without large crowds. Since the sea breeze is cold, it is recommended to bring a windproof jacket. It is not a winter lighting attraction, so it is best for a short visit focused on the natural scenery.
Practical Tip
Be careful, as the surroundings may be wet due to rain or waves. It is easy to visit together with other attractions because it is close to downtown Seogwipo.
Local Tips
Sojungbang Falls is very close to Jeongbang Falls, so it is easy to visit both together. From the Jeongbang Falls parking lot, it takes about 5 minutes on foot.
From Jeju Airport, take bus 600, get off at the KAL Hotel terminal, and then follow the Jeongbang Falls sign for about 10 minutes on foot.
Sojungbang Falls is smaller than Jeongbang Falls, but its defining feature is that you can see the waterfall up close.
The water is very cold, so it is known as a place where local residents come to splash themselves with the water. In Jeju, there is a custom of pouring cold water on oneself on Baekjung Day (the 15th day of the 7th lunar month) to pray for health and well-being throughout the year.
The former Olle Trail section is currently closed and is used only as a restroom for Olle hikers.
