Why It Is Held at Umutgae Coast near Seongsan Ilchulbong
The Seongsanpo Haenyeo Diving Performance Venue is located at 284-34 Ilchul-ro, Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo-si, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. The performance takes place at Umutgae Coast, a free-access section of Seongsan Ilchulbong, and the Umutgae fishing grounds near Seongsan Ilchulbong are introduced as actual fishing grounds where the haenyeo of the Seongsan Fishing Village Cooperative work.
One hundred haenyeo belonging to the Seongsan Fishing Village Cooperative participate in the performance, organized into 10 groups. Therefore, rather than being a traditional performance recreated on a stage, it is closer to a program in which real haenyeo come out to the waters in front of Seongsan Ilchulbong wearing diving suits and carrying taewak floats to demonstrate their diving work.

Once a Day at 2 p.m.: How the Performance Proceeds
The performance takes place once a day at 2 p.m. The opening performance, in which the haenyeo come out carrying their diving suits and taewak floats and sing songs, lasts approximately 5–10 minutes. When the songs end, they enter the sea and demonstrate their diving work.
The tourist-information sequence is an introduction to the haenyeo, diving in the sea, collecting seafood, commemorative photographs, seafood sales, and tasting. However, because the demonstration takes place in shallow water, it is difficult for visitors to see the seafood-collecting scene clearly; the main attraction is watching the haenyeo dive.

Admission Is Free, but a Seongsan Ilchulbong Ticket Is Required
The Seongsanpo Haenyeo Diving Performance can be viewed free of charge with a Seongsan Ilchulbong admission ticket. It is not a system in which paid seats are purchased separately for the performance; instead, it should be understood as an attraction connected to the Seongsan Ilchulbong admission route.
No regular closing day is listed, but operating hours and days off may change depending on the season and weather conditions. If the waves are high or conditions at the site are poor, the schedule may be canceled, or the program may consist only of singing and introductions without entering the sea. For safety, call 064-783-0959 before setting out.

How to Get There by Bus from Jeju Airport and Jeju Bus Terminal
From Jeju Airport, take bus 101 and get off at the Seongsan Ilchulbong Entrance stop. Route 101 connects the airport, Jeju Bus Terminal, Hamdeok Beach, Woljeong-ri, Sehwa-ri, Seongsan Port Entrance, and Seongsan Ilchulbong Entrance.
From Jeju Bus Terminal, buses 201, 211, and 212 pass through Seongsan Ilchulbong Entrance. Route 201 is listed as running every 15–20 minutes in the Seongsan Ilchulbong section. However, route 211 has a first bus at 6:05 a.m. and a last bus at 9:40 p.m. from Jeju Terminal, with intervals of 60–85 minutes, while route 212 has a first bus at 6:40 a.m. and a last bus at 8:55 p.m., with intervals of 62–85 minutes. Allow for potentially long waiting times when trying to arrive for the 2 p.m. performance.
Planning the Final Route from the Seongsan Ilchulbong Entrance Stop
The bus drop-off point is the Seongsan Ilchulbong Entrance stop. Route 201 approaches Seongsan Ilchulbong Entrance from Jeju Bus Terminal along the east coast, while routes 211 and 212 run from Jeju Bus Terminal to Seongsan Port, so be sure to check that the stop name is Seongsan Ilchulbong Entrance.
The venue is located at 284-34 Ilchul-ro and lies within the free-access section of Umutgae Coast. Since no official walking distance or minute-by-minute travel time from the ticket office to the venue is provided, it is better to arrive at the Seongsan Ilchulbong entrance early and secure a viewing spot rather than arriving just before 2 p.m.

Points to Note About Driving and Wheelchair or Stroller Access
Parking is available at the Seongsanpo Haenyeo Diving Performance Venue, and visitors are directed to use the Seongsan Ilchulbong parking lot. However, the number of spaces and parking fees are not provided. Rather than planning on free parking or a specific parking space, it is more practical to follow on-site directions after arriving at the Seongsan Ilchulbong parking lot.
The free-access section has relatively gentle slopes and includes accessible parking spaces and an accessible restroom. However, there are slopes and drainage channels from the accessible parking area toward the administration office and ticket office, and some sections have steep slopes and uneven surfaces. Wheelchair and stroller users may need assistance from a companion. No wheelchair or stroller facilities specifically dedicated to viewing the performance have been confirmed.

What You Can Eat at the Haenyeo House After the Performance
The performance includes seafood sales and tasting, and a haenyeo house operated by the haenyeo is located at the venue. The haenyeo house telephone number is 064-783-1135, which differs from the venue's main inquiry number, 064-783-0959.
At the haenyeo house, you can taste sea cucumbers, sea pineapples listed among the sea urchin products, and conch. If you plan to continue with a meal after viewing the performance, keep in mind that seafood sales and tasting may follow the 2 p.m. performance. Even if the sea demonstration is omitted due to worsening weather, it is advisable to separately confirm whether the haenyeo house is open.

A Practical Order When Combining It with Seongsan Gapmun and Udo
The Seongsanpo Haenyeo Diving Performance Venue is near Seongsan Ilchulbong, so you can visit Seongsan Ilchulbong before or after the performance. Nearby attractions also include Seongsan Gapmun and Udo, which are part of Jeju Olle Trail Route 1. The venue can serve as a reference point for combining an eastern Jeju coastal itinerary.
However, the performance is held only once a day at 2 p.m., and routes 211 and 212 may have long intervals of 60–85 minutes and 62–85 minutes, respectively. If you include Udo on the same day, calculate the ferry schedule and bus waiting time first. If the performance is your priority, arrive at Seongsan Ilchulbong Entrance before 2 p.m. to secure a spot and account for the possibility of cancellation due to weather.
