In winter, camellias become the highlight of a trip. A January 2024 visitor review published on the official Jeju tourism page mentioned camellias amid a snowstorm; because Jeju winter weather can change dramatically, it is advisable to prepare a waterproof coat and nonslip shoes. Since the final winter entry is at 17:00, arriving late in the afternoon will shorten your viewing time.

From June through August, the hydrangea garden becomes the main attraction. A June 2024 review on the official page also mentioned the walking paths, hydrangeas, and photo spots together. In October, the garden features pink muhly, pampas grass, and silver grass, so satisfaction is likely to be higher if you choose plants suited to your month of visit rather than expecting only camellias in bloom.

Inside the garden are the Birdsong and Wind Sound Path, known as the setting for an Innisfree commercial; the Traditional Olle Trail following Jeju stone walls; and a forest path decorated with lighting. Distinguish the 2025 plan for a 223,831-square-meter tourism and recreation complex from current arboretum operations

There has also been a development-plan issue around Camellia Hill separate from arboretum visits. According to reports from May 2025, the operator pursued a project covering 223,831 square meters inside and outside Camellia Hill, including a learning center and agricultural exhibition hall, and the site was designated as a rural tourism and recreation complex on May 19, 2023.

However, the same reports state that because development-activity procedures did not proceed after the designation, procedures were initiated to revoke it. This is an administrative matter separate from the facility information needed to visit the current flower garden. Travelers should first check operating hours, the entry deadline, weather, and seasonal bloom conditions; for information about new facilities or construction, it is most accurate to check official channels immediately before the visit.

How to add a Jungmun-area itinerary after 40–80 minutes at Camellia Hill

Since Camellia Hill itself is a walking-oriented visit recommended to take 40 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes, it is easy to fit between other activities in the Jungmun and Andeok areas rather than setting aside an entire day. Especially in winter, when entry ends at 17:00, in the shoulder seasons at 17:30, and in summer at 18:00, it is better to schedule the visit before checking in to your accommodation or early after lunch.

Flower conditions vary each year according to temperature and precipitation. If camellias are your goal, do not simply decide to visit in winter; check bloom reports before choosing a date.
