How Mudeung Stadium Became a 22,244-Seat Baseball Stadium in 2011
Gwangju-Kia Champions Field is the home stadium of the KIA Tigers. This site was originally the main stadium of Gwangju Mudeung Stadium, and the existing stadium was demolished in 2011. Construction of a baseball stadium began in 2012 and was completed in December 2013.

Three Ways to Connect GwangjuSongjeong Station, Nongseong Station, and a Taxi
If you arrive by high-speed rail, you can depart from GwangjuSongjeong Station. One listed bus route is to take Songjeong 98 or Jwaseok 02 and get off at Gyeongsin Girls’ High School bus stop. Alternatively, take the subway from GwangjuSongjeong Station to Nongseong Station, then travel by taxi for about 10 minutes.
If you want to combine the subway and bus, the route from GwangjuSongjeong Station to Geumnamno 5-ga Station could not be confirmed in the current official guidance, so it is left unconfirmed.
A taxi-only trip from GwangjuSongjeong Station takes about 30 minutes. Cheomdan 95, Unnim 51, Ilgok 38, Maewol 16, and Yongjeon 84 stop at the Stadium bus stop. Songjeong 98, Jiwon 151, Ilgok 38, and Imgok 89 stop at the Mudeung Baseball Stadium bus stop. Maewol 16 stops at the Main Gate bus stop.
From U-Square Gwangcheon Bus Terminal, Getting Off at the Main Gate Is Simplest
When departing from U-Square, Gwangju’s intercity bus terminal, take Pungam 16 or Jiwon 151 at the Gwangcheon Terminal bus stop and get off at the Gwangju-Kia Champions Field bus stop. User guidance also lists a route using Maewol 16 and getting off at the main gate of Gwangju-Kia Champions Field.
Another listed option is to take Ilgok 38 or 228 and get off at the Gwangju-Kia Champions Field bus stop. By taxi instead of bus, the trip from Gwangcheon Bus Terminal takes about 10 minutes. Walking from U-Square is also said to be possible, but the stated travel time ranges from 2 to 30 minutes, so buses or taxis are more practical than walking if you have luggage or are traveling before the game begins.
From Gwangju Station, you can take Geumnam 89, Songjeong 98, or Jiwon 151 to the stadium bus stop; a taxi takes about 10–15 minutes. However, roads and parking areas may become congested depending on the game schedule, so it is safest to enter the bus stop name exactly as shown into a map app before departing.
Entry Two Hours Before the Game and Booking at 11:00 a.m. One Week in Advance
The hours and holidays listed in Gwangju tourism information both change according to the game schedule. Therefore, visiting on a day without a baseball game and expecting to tour the interior like a regular tourist attraction is difficult. You must secure a ticket according to the game schedule to enter the actual spectator seating areas and stadium interior.
Ticket prices vary by game, seating area, and schedule, and online reservations are made through Ticketlink. The online booking information line is 1588-7890, and the stadium’s main telephone number is 070-7686-8000. User guidance states that reservations open at 11:00 a.m. one week before the game.

Choose Between the K8 Cheering Section and the K9 View First
