From Ganhyeon Station in 1940 to rail bikes in 2013
Ganhyeon Station opened as a regular station on April 1, 1940, along with the opening of the Yangpyeong–Wonju section, and the station building was completed on August 18, 1958. Later, when the double-tracking of the Cheongnyangni–Manjong section of the Jungang Line was completed, the station closed on December 21, 2011, bringing its function as a railway station to an end.
After the railway line was abandoned, the former Jungang Line railway facilities and track bed were used as a tourist rail-bike route. Wonju Rail Park opened on June 8, 2013, and Wonju City materials describe a course running between Ganhyeon Station and Pandae Station, featuring natural scenery and event tunnels. Former peak-season departure times were 09:30, 10:50, 12:50, 14:40, and 16:30, while the off-season schedule was 10:10, 11:30, 13:00, 14:20, and 15:40. Some materials state that an additional 18:20 departure was added during the busiest season, making six departures per day, but all of these are former operating records and cannot be used as current 2026 reservation, departure, or fare information.

The former course had six event tunnels, with LED lighting installed inside them. There was also a photo spot not far from the starting point. Visitors could have photographs produced after arriving at Ganhyeon Station, and the price at the time was 6,000 won.
