600 m from Exit 7 or 8 of Yuseong Spa Station: Begin with a Foot Bath
Yuseong Spa Street refers to the commercial area around Oncheon-ro in Bongmyeong-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, and Yuseong Spa Park. It is clear that the first destination should be the Yuseong Spa Outdoor Foot Bath Experience Center near Gyeryong Spatel. It is approximately 600 m from Exits 7 and 8 of Yuseong Spa Station on Daejeon Metro Line 1. Yuseong-gu tourism information lists buses 101, 102, 105, 106, 113, 114, 117, 119, 121, 704, 706, 911, and 912; Maeul buses 1 and 5; and Seat Bus 48 as nearby access routes.
The foot bath center is free, and no reservation procedure is provided. Yuseong-gu lists subway operating hours as 05:30–23:39, with a basic service interval of 10 minutes and a 6-minute interval during rush hour. Rather than taking a taxi directly from Daejeon Station, taking Metro Line 1 to Yuseong Spa Station and walking the final 600 m makes it easier to find the center of the area.

Four Facilities with 41–43°C Natural Hot Spring Water and Free Foot Baths from 07:00 to 22:00
The Yuseong Spa Outdoor Foot Bath Experience Center operates year-round from 07:00 to 22:00. Admission is free, and there are four foot bath facilities: one pavilion-style facility and three stream-style facilities. Yuseong-gu states that the hot spring water is maintained at 41–43°C through a circulating natural hot spring water system, so in winter it is practical to bring a thin towel and something to dry your feet with.
This is not a full-body hot spring bath but a public outdoor facility where visitors soak their feet. Therefore, rather than setting aside a long period for bathing, it is best to treat it as a 20- to 30-minute rest stop in your itinerary. Access may be restricted in cases of rain, strong winds, facility inspections, or safety-management conditions, so before making a long journey, check same-day operating status through Yuseong-gu Culture and Tourism information or the tourism inquiry line at 042-611-2114.

From Suzuki’s Development in 1907 to the 1912 Opening: How the Hot Spring Village Became a Tourist Area
Records of Yuseong Spa date back to the Joseon period. The Encyclopedia of Korean Culture reports that the Dongguk Yeoji Seungnam records King Taejo bathing here while inspecting potential sites for a new capital around Gyeryongsan Mountain, and that King Taejong also visited frequently. Today’s streetscape is the result of early-20th-century commercial development and modern tourism infrastructure layered onto this long history of hot spring use.
According to Daejeon city materials, a Japanese man named Suzuki began developing the area near the hot spring baths south of Yuseongcheon Stream in Bongmyeong-dong in 1907. Kim Gap-sun, a wealthy landowner from Gongju, purchased land and began development in 1912, opening Yuseong Spa in December of that year. In 1923, the South Manchuria Railway Company acquired part of the area, constructed new buildings, and expanded operations. Yuseong Tourist Special Zone was designated on August 31, 1994, and expanded beyond the hot springs into an urban tourism area encompassing Daedeok Innopolis, Expo Science Park, and the National Science Museum.

A 900 m Walk from Yuseong Spa Park on Oncheon-ro to the Hot Spring Tower: Understanding the Center of the Area
Yuseong Spa Park, introduced by Daejeon City, is approximately 900 m long and was created along Oncheon-ro, which crosses the Yuseong Spa intersection. Therefore, rather than viewing “Yuseong Spa Street” as a single tourist attraction at one location, it is more natural to understand it as a pedestrian area linking the foot bath center, the park section along Oncheon-ro, the area around the Hot Spring Tower, and the hotels and restaurants.
If you only walk, one hour is recommended including the round trip and a short rest. Add 20–30 minutes for the foot bath and time for a meal, and allow 1.5–2 hours. Course 1 of the Sejong–Yuseong Baraem-gil Trail, which runs from the Yuseong Spa Foot Bath Experience Center to Gungdonghagyo, Jangdae 2-gyo, and Gungdonggyo, is 4.0 km and takes approximately one hour according to the official information. If you have time for a longer walk from the spa area, you can use this course as an extension.

The May 8–10 Yurin Park Festival and the Spa Street: In the Same Yuseong Area, but at Different Locations
The Yuseong Spa Culture Festival is a hot spring-themed festival that first began in 1989. The 2026 event was held for three days, from May 8 to 10, throughout Yurin Park, with programs including a hot spring water ritual, performances, a foot bath experience center, and a themed exhibition hall. The foot bath center on Yuseong Spa Street and the festival venue are in the same Yuseong tourism area, but the festival itself takes place at Yurin Park; keep this distinction in mind when booking accommodation or restaurants.
Traffic controls and temporary programs during the festival may change each year. In contrast, the Yuseong Spa Outdoor Foot Bath Experience Center is a permanent facility officially listed as available 365 days a year. If you want to enjoy the 900 m park and foot bath quietly rather than during the crowded festival period, consider a weekday morning from 07:00 to 10:00 or the period before dinner. This simply means these times are convenient within the regular operating hours; crowd levels may vary depending on the weather and events.

Choose the Metro Rather Than a Car, and Assess Yuseong-gu Office Public Parking and Oncheon-ro Parking Separately
Yuseong Spa Street is a downtown commercial area with hot spring facilities, hotels, and restaurants, so it is difficult to expect one free parking area directly in front of your destination. For cars, the practical approach is to check Yuseong-gu Office Public Parking Lot, parking areas around Oncheondong-ro, and private parking lots according to your destination. Parking fees and operating hours may vary by area and operator, so check them immediately before departure.
For a walking-centered visit, Daejeon Metro Line 1 is simpler. The foot bath center is approximately 600 m from Yuseong Spa Station, and after the foot bath you can continue walking along the 900 m park on Oncheon-ro. The Yuseong-gu Culture and Tourism website offers English, Japanese, and Chinese menus, but it has not been confirmed whether foreign-language staff are permanently stationed at the foot bath center. Wheelchair and stroller users should also consult the Yuseong Tourist Special Zone information in the Korea Tourism Organization’s accessible-travel resources, which indicates subway and low-floor bus access, accessible restrooms, designated accessible parking spaces, and step-free main entrances.

From Yuseong Spa Street to a Science-City Itinerary: How to Add the Gapcheon and Expo Areas
In addition to Yuseong Spa, Yuseong Tourist Special Zone is connected to areas such as Daedeok Innopolis, Expo Science Park, and the National Science Museum. This makes it possible to visit a science museum or the Expo area in the morning and finish the day with a meal and foot bath on Yuseong Spa Street. However, the foot bath center closes at 22:00, so for an evening itinerary it is best to arrive before 21:30.
If you want to use a full hot spring bath, check the business hours, admission fees, and last admission times separately for nearby hotels and public hot spring baths, as these are separate from the outdoor foot bath. There are several hotels and public hot spring baths using hot spring water within the tourist zone, but there is no admission fee or common closing day for the entire street. The free, year-round information in this article applies only to the Yuseong Spa Outdoor Foot Bath Experience Center.
