From the start of construction in 2008 to the opening on July 29, 2013, the reason it was established in Beomeo-dong
Suseong District Beomeo Library began construction on November 3, 2008, completed the building on March 29, 2013, and opened on July 29 of the same year. Its location on the main road at 2451 Dalgubeol-daero, across from Suseong-gu Office, can be seen as a choice tailored to its role as a representative library accessible by public transportation, rather than a small neighborhood archive.
The building consists of one basement level and five floors above ground, with a total area of 6,904㎡. The project cost at the time of opening was known to be 28.8 billion KRW, and green, blue, and brown tones were used for the U-glass curtain wall exterior. In 2023, it ranked first nationwide among public libraries joined to the 'Book-i-eum' service with 4.78 million books loaned and first nationwide with 118,000 members, and on October 22, 2025, it received a Prime Minister's Commendation in the National Library Operation Evaluation.
A 5-minute route from Beomeo Station Exit 8 and Suseong-gu Office Bus Stop
For the subway, use Exit 8 of Beomeo Station on Daegu Subway Line 2. Although the official library guide does not specify the exact walking minutes from the exit, it is relatively easy to find by following the main road, Dalgubeol-daero. The address is 2451 Dalgubeol-daero, Suseong-gu, Daegu, and the main phone number is 053-668-1600.
For buses, you can use the stop in front of Suseong-gu Office or across from Suseong-gu Office as a reference. According to official guides, it takes about 5 minutes from both stops based on wheelchair movement, and buses 232, 232-1, 309, 413, 509, 609, 649, 724, Donggu 1, Donggu 1-1, Suseong 1, Suseong 1-1, 100, 100-1, 990, and 991 are connected. If you need to avoid stairs, it is safer to check the Daegu Bus Information before departure for the operation of low-floor buses and the direction of the stop.

The character of Beomeo created by the International Resource Room, IB Corner, and 'Library Beyond Library'
Beomeo Library is not just composed of reading rooms. In May 2018, an IB Corner was opened in the International Resource Room, and in December 2019, the Daegu-style maker space 'Creative Factory Beomeo' was opened. In July 2022, an audiobook digital experience space was created. Users looking for English/international materials and creative activities should visit the 2nd and 4th floors.
Local educational and cultural functions have expanded to 'Library Beyond Library', 'Suseong Humanities @Suseong', the Suseong Humanities Festival, global programs, and Suseong Book Therapy. Notably, since 2020, a 24-hour automated small library utilizing an unused phone booth has been operated at the bus stop in front of Beomeo Library. Since application conditions and locations for regular classes, performances, and venue rentals may vary by schedule, you should check the dates and application status on the official cultural event board before visiting.
