Five Paths Connecting Mipo Intersection and Dalmaji Eoul Madang
Moontan Road is a walking trail built on Haeundae’s Dalmaji Hill. Its name comes from the meaning “a path for taking a light walk under the moonlight.” The full circular route starts near the Gomsol Colony Observatory and connects Dalbitkkotjamgil (600 m), Dalbitgaon-gil (600 m), Dalbitbatu-gil (900 m), Dalbithamkke-gil (300 m), and Dalbitmannam-gil (700 m), for a total of approximately 3.1 km.
Walking all the sections takes approximately one to two hours. The main points indicated on the route are the Sea Observatory, Sports Park, Dalmaji Eoul Madang, and Haewoljeong. If you have a short schedule, it is more efficient to enter from the Mipo side, visit Haewoljeong and the observatory, and then return.
The Background of Dalmaji-gil: the 15-Bend Road Midway Up Wausan
Dalmaji-gil, where Moontan Road is located, is a coastal road midway up Wausan that leads from Haeundae Beach toward Songjeong Beach. According to information from Haeundae District, the road was also called “Sipgokdo,” meaning “the 15-bend road,” because it has more than 15 curves, and it forms an approximately 8 km driving course.
The Haeundae area has long been mentioned as one of the Eight Scenic Views of Busan because of its landscape, where camellia forests, pine forests, sandy beaches, and the sea meet. Since Moontan Road is a walking route laid out along the forested slope of Dalmaji Hill, visitors should expect inclines, declines, and sections of dirt trail rather than a completely flat path like a beach promenade.
Walking Order from Dalbitkkotjamgil’s 600 m to Dalbitmannam-gil’s 700 m
For first-time visitors, the easiest route to understand is to pass through the 600 m Dalbitkkotjamgil and 600 m Dalbitgaon-gil from the Gomsol Colony Observatory, then continue along the longest section, the 900 m Dalbitbatu-gil, to Dalmaji Eoul Madang. After the turnaround point, complete the circular route by following the 300 m Dalbithamkke-gil and 700 m Dalbitmannam-gil.
This is not a route where the sea remains directly beside you throughout the walk. Instead, the route offers views of the waters in front of Haeundae from viewpoints between the forest paths, so it is important not to miss the observatory signs. At Haewoljeong, the view opens toward the sea between the pine branches, while the ridge toward Cheongsapo offers scenery facing the harbor.
Getting from Haeundae Station on Busan Metro Line 2 to Mipo and the Moontan Road Entrance
There is no subway station directly on Moontan Road. From Haeundae Station, take bus numbers 39, 100, 141, or 200, get off at the “Mipo·Moontan Road Entrance” stop, and walk for approximately eight minutes to reach Mipo and the beginning of Moontan Road. “Mipo Station” is not a metropolitan railway station but a tourist train stop operated by Haeundae Blueline Park, so it is best not to confuse the names.
The listed address, 190 Dalmaji-gil, Haeundae-gu, Busan, corresponds to a section of Dalmaji Hill. Tourist information lists Moontan Road under several entrance references, including 120 Dalmaji-gil and 11 Dalmaji-gil 117beon-gil. When using a taxi or searching on a map, it is safer to specify the intended entrance, Haewoljeong, or Dalmaji Eoul Madang along with “Moontan Road.”
A Free Walking Trail: Why to Check the Weather Before Operating Hours
Moontan Road is a free outdoor walking trail with no separate admission ticket. No fixed opening or closing hours or regular closing days have been confirmed in publicly available tourist information. Therefore, before visiting, it is more reasonable to check strong winds, heavy rain, typhoon advisories, sunset time, and the condition of the walking path before worrying about operating hours.

Moontan Road Public Parking and Mipo Parking: When Public Transportation Is Better on Weekends
Visitors traveling by car can consider the Moontan Road public parking lot or public parking lots around Mipo. However, visitor information repeatedly notes that Mipo and Dalmaji Hill are areas where vehicles gather on weekends and public holidays. Reviews also mention that parking spaces are limited, so during times when many visitors use the Beach Train, taking a bus from Haeundae Station makes travel time easier to predict.
Parking fees and operating conditions may change, so check the public parking information again just before departure. Since the walking trail combines forest paths and sloped sections, there may be limitations on moving continuously along the entire route with a stroller with large wheels or a wheelchair. It is better to divide the itinerary into accessible destinations such as the Sports Park and observatories.
An Option for Connecting Mipo Railroad Trail’s 300 m and Cheongsapo in One Day
If you start Moontan Road from Mipo, the Mipo Railroad Trail is approximately 0.3 km away, making it easy to connect with coastal railway scenery. Nearby Mipo Station is one of the departure points for the Haeundae Blueline Park Beach Train and Sky Capsule, so you can also plan to take a tourist train requiring a separate reservation and fee after your forest walk.
If you plan to continue walking a long distance toward Cheongsapo, sneakers are suitable. A visit review from March 2024 recommends sneakers because the route is mountainous and mentions that the Sky Capsule and sea can be seen together while walking. At night, however, considering the changes in level and limited visibility on the forest path, do not rely solely on a mobile phone light; for safety, stay with companions and travel mainly through well-lit sections.
