In the final episode of MBC's Fri-Sat drama 'The 21st Century Grand Prince's Wife,' which aired on the 16th, Seong Hui-ju (played by IU) and Grand Prince I-an (played by Byeon Woo-seok) protected each other.

That day, Grand Prince I-an, who ascended the throne, declared, "Let us begin discussions on abolishing the monarchy." Earlier, Seong Hui-ju had asked Grand Prince I-an, "What will be the first line written in the royal annals?" Grand Prince I-an explained his intention to abolish the royal family, saying, "When a person's innate status becomes both privilege and restraint, that beginning is the royal family." Hearing this, Seong Hui-ju said, "I thought it was treason, but it was a revolution. I dream that I can be myself," and hugged Grand Prince I-an.

However, Grand Prince I-an faced fierce opposition. Min Jeong-woo (played by Noh Sang-hyun) reacted sharply, saying, "The king may change, but the royal family does not." With the cabinet and royal relatives opposing him, the only place Grand Prince I-an could lean on was the public.

Yoon Yi-rang (played by Gong Seung-yeon) learned through Yoon Seong-won (played by Jo Jae-yun) that it was Min Jeong-woo who had summoned Grand Prince I-an to the throne room. When Min Jeong-woo appeared before Yoon Yi-rang after hearing the truth, he stated, "Please voice opposition to the abolition of the monarchy." Min Jeong-woo then threatened that if Yoon Yi-rang refused, he would even make her son a criminal.

Min Jeong-woo then suspended the royal family's budget payment. In response, Seong Hui-ju said, "What good is having rich in-laws?" and donated enough money under the Castle Group name to exceed a year's budget. Min Jeong-woo then pressured Castle Group with an investigation into slush funds, but Seong Hyeon-guk (played by Jo Seung-yeon) and Seong Tae-ju (played by Lee Jae-won) firmly protected Seong Hui-ju.

Grand Prince I-an pointed out that what the royals, royal relatives, and nobles wanted to protect was not the state and ancestral shrine, nor the monarchy, but their noble status. When Min Jeong-woo pushed back, Seong Hui-ju appeared and said, "So you tried to kill him?" Earlier, when Seong Hui-ju had gone to Yoon Yi-rang seeking help, she heard the vile truth about Min Jeong-woo from a recording Yoon Yi-rang had made. Enraged after hearing the recording, Grand Prince I-an shouted, "From now on, anyone who supports Prime Minister Min will be regarded as an accomplice of those who seek to assassinate me."

Min Jeong-woo admitted that he had tried to assassinate Grand Prince I-an, saying, "I begged you. I asked you to push Hui-ju far away. Then I said I would protect you," and blamed Grand Prince I-an, but Grand Prince I-an retorted, "It was your fault for thinking something you had never even had was taken away."

After the public referendum on the survival of the monarchy, Grand Prince I-an declared, "I proclaim the completion of the monarchy. The 34th King I-wan." As Grand Prince I-an had asked, "Call me by my name if it succeeds," Seong Hui-ju called him "Wan."

Three years later, Seong Hui-ju returned to the board of directors, and I-wan established a foundation after organizing the royal family's assets. However, because he kept staying home and only doing housework instead of going to work, he was also scolded by Choi Hyeon (played by Yoo Su-bin). Seong Tae-ju took parental leave, and Seong Hyeon-guk told Seong Hui-ju, "Prove it," adding, "I never wanted you to lose. I wanted you not to fight."

I-wan wanted to propose to Seong Hui-ju again and have a wedding. When Seong Hui-ju learned this, she said, "Why bother?" and asked since when he had been sincere, saying, "I was sincere from that time on. I guess you weren't?" I-wan confessed, "Since the time you first told me your name," and kissed her. Afterwards, the two showed their happiness by kissing at a baseball stadium as well.
