Seonam Lake Park is located at 104 Seonamhosu-gil, Nam-gu, Ulsan Metropolitan City (Seonam-dong). Construction of the park began on December 19, 2005, was completed by November 4, 2007, and had a net construction cost of 5.3 billion won.
Seonam Lake, the center of the park, is listed as having a watershed area of 1.2㎢ and a storage capacity of 2,000 thousand ㎥. Seonam Dam is an earth embankment with a central impervious core; it is 22 m high, 331 m long, and has a crest width of 7 m. Understanding that the current park landscape is a space organized around this water-storage facility, rather than simply a natural lakeside area with walking facilities added, makes the layout easier to understand.
Free Admission and Open Year-Round, but Information Desk Hours Vary
Admission to the park is free, and it is open year-round. Although the park itself is listed as open at all times, the Main Information Center operates from 09:00 to 21:00, while the Welcome Center operates from 09:00 to 18:00. If you visit late, you may still be able to walk around the park, but the operating hours for the information desk and exhibition space may have ended.

The Welcome Center displays a promotional video about Seonam Lake Park and award-winning entries from a photo contest. The official closing time for admission to the entire park, as well as the availability of English-language information and audio guides, could not be confirmed from the available information.
Choose Between Bus Routes and Parking Lots for 104 Seonamhosu-gil
When traveling by bus from downtown Ulsan, routes 106 and 415 are listed as stopping at Yaeum Lotte Castle, while routes 206 and 426 stop at Yaeum Market. Route 976 stops at Lake Park Soccer Field, and route 926 stops at Yaeum Elementary School. For international visitors, the safest approach is to enter both the route number and the stop name into a map app.
Parking is free when traveling by car. Parking Lot 1 (C Deck) has 89 spaces, Parking Lot 2 (Administration Building) has 141 spaces, Parking Lot 3 (Soccer Field) has 120 spaces, Parking Lot 4 (Senior Welfare Center) has 64 spaces, and Parking Lot 5 (Rainbow Playground) has 31 spaces. The actual operating hours of each parking lot could not be confirmed separately, and vehicles cannot enter the park facilities.
Difference Between the Official 4 km Trail and the 3.6 km Figure in Reviews
Ulsan tourism information explains that an approximately 4 km walking trail has been created around the lake. In contrast, a visit review from November 2025 describes the lakeside trail as 3.6 km. Since the distance varies by source, it is better to understand it as a walking course that circles the lake rather than focus on the exact recorded distance.
A November 2025 review describes the trail as gently sloping and flat, making it suitable for walking with families and older adults, and says that walking and sightseeing take approximately 1–2 hours. An observatory, pavilion, walking paths, snack shop, and two restrooms are listed, so a short visit is possible; however, allowing more than an hour is advisable if you also visit the flower gardens and facilities.
Where and When to Find Seasonal Flowers
In spring, daffodils, freesias, and crocuses bloom in the Waterside Flower Garden. Cherry trees have been planted along the approximately 4 km walking trail around the lake, making it possible to plan a spring cherry blossom walk. Since the actual flowering dates vary each year, an efficient route in spring is to pass through the Waterside Flower Garden first and check its condition.
In summer, visitors can see Japanese iris, hydrangeas, and tree peonies mainly along the walking trail, while in autumn, red spider lilies bloom around the Theme Rest Area. A November 2025 review says that colonies of red spider lilies can be seen near the Theme Rest Area and the soccer field. A rose tunnel and wildflower garden have also been created along the walking trail.
Small Religious Facility and Park Amenities at the Theme Rest Area
At Seonam Lake Park, a wildflower garden, rose tunnel, nature learning area, and aquatic ecology garden are arranged along the walking trail. There is also a soccer field and outdoor stage, so marking the locations of these facilities as well as the lake makes the purpose of your walk clearer than simply viewing the lake and returning.
The Theme Rest Area has a facility introduced as “the smallest religious facility in the world.” The park also has an observatory, pavilions, a picnic area, and a small performance venue, with a listed capacity of 2,000 people. The Welcome Center operates from 09:00 to 18:00, so you must arrive within these hours to view the exhibition.
Rainbow Playground: On-Site Ticketing at 656 Seonam-dong
If you are traveling with children, Rainbow Playground can be planned as a separate destination. It is located at 656 Seonam-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan Metropolitan City, and covers 11,174㎡. Facilities include a mini train, combination playground equipment, a trampoline, and a sand playground.
Reservations for the Rainbow Playground mini train are made through on-site ticketing. Reservation inquiries can be made at 052-226-0088 from Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00–18:00, and facility inquiries can be made at 052-226-0963 during the same hours. In other words, plan it as a facility where you obtain a ticket on-site rather than assuming that online reservations are available.
Wheelchair and Stroller Rentals and Restrictions to Observe On-Site
At the Main Information Center, visitors can rent a stroller or wheelchair free of charge by presenting identification. Accessible parking spaces are also available in the parking lots. However, the official information does not confirm the slopes, stairs, surface conditions, or accessibility of every section of the park, so for safety, it is better to first ask the information center which sections are currently accessible rather than attempting the full lakeside trail.
Portable gas stoves and other flammable materials cannot be brought into the park, and cooking and fishing are prohibited. No photography prohibition has been confirmed, but damaging facilities and entering with vehicles are prohibited. A snack shop is listed, but it could not be confirmed whether it accepts cash only or also accepts card payments, so it is advisable to prepare a simple payment method as well.
The Most Practical 1–2 Hour Route for a First Visit
For a short visit, approach the park from the Yaeum Lotte Castle or Yaeum Market direction, then check the locations of restrooms and rental services at the Main Information Center before proceeding to the lakeside trail. Even without walking the entire trail listed as approximately 4 km, you can combine the observatory, pavilions, and Theme Rest Area to create a 1–2 hour itinerary.
If flowers are your main objective, prioritize the Waterside Flower Garden in spring, Japanese iris, hydrangeas, and tree peonies along the trail in summer, and the red spider lilies near the Theme Rest Area and soccer field in autumn. Visitors with children can add Rainbow Playground, while those arriving in the late afternoon should visit the Welcome Center first so they do not miss its 09:00–18:00 operating hours.
