Chojeong Haenggung was created based on King Sejong’s two visits to Chojeong in the spring and autumn of 1444, during which he stayed for 121 days. Cheongju’s official information introduces it as the place where Sejong underwent recuperation to treat eye and skin diseases and completed work on the promulgation of the Korean alphabet.
Chojeong Mineral Spring is introduced as mineral water discovered about 600 years ago, with related records mentioned in Dongguk Yeoji Seungnam and the Veritable Records of the Joseon Dynasty. Cheongju’s official information presents the mineral water of Chojeong-ri as one of the world’s three great mineral waters, alongside Shasta in the United States and Apollinaris in Germany, and records that King Sejo also cured a skin disease with this spring water.

How to Take Bus 101 from Downtown Cheongju to Chojeong Samgeori
For public transportation, Cheongju City Bus 101 runs from Seokpan Terminal to Chojeong Mineral Spring Terminal. The stop near Chojeong Haenggung is Chojeong Samgeori (Chojeong Haenggung), and stop information distinguishes between the Chojeong-ri direction and the Senior Hospital direction.
Chojeong Mineral Spring Terminal and Chojeong Mineral Spring Origin stops are also near Chojeong Samgeori (Chojeong Haenggung). If you plan to take part in the foot-bath experience, practical preparations include wearing clothing suitable for outdoor activity and bringing a towel.
