Yangpyeong Sheep Ranch

An experiential ranch on Eungogaet-gil in Yongmun-myeon, Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, where visitors can meet around 160 sheep, alpacas, and ostriches in pastures personally cultivated for 11 years by owner Oh Eose. 11 Years of Pastureland Developed by O Eose in Gwangtan-ri

Located in the Gwangtan-ri area of Yongmun-myeon, Yangpyeong Sheep Ranch was established by its owner, O Eose (55), who was born here. In a May 2025 interview with the Gyeongin Ilbo, O said that he had wanted to work in livestock and animal-related fields since childhood. After graduating from a university livestock science department, he worked in other fields before purchasing the land himself 11 years ago and cultivating it into pastureland, eventually developing it into the ranch it is today.

The ranch began with 20 sheep purchased from Daegwallyeong Sheep Ranch. Since then, the owner has gradually added animals such as horses and donkeys, expanding the site into an experiential ranch where visitors can now see more than 160 sheep, as well as alpacas, ostriches, and other animals.

112 Eungogaet-gil, the Access Road from National Route 6

The address is 112 Eungogaet-gil, Yongmun-myeon, Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do. By public transportation, it takes 10 to 15 minutes by car from Yongmun Station on the Jungang Line. It is approximately 16 km from Yangpyeong Station and can be reached by car within two hours from most areas of the Seoul metropolitan region.

In an interview, O Eose said that some people still find the road from National Route 6 to the ranch somewhat rough. Since the access road from the highway to the ranch is relatively narrow, it is safest to follow the navigation directions and enter at low speed. Parking is free, and visitor reviews repeatedly mention that no separate parking fee is required.

Closed on Tuesdays, with Seasonal Operating Hours

Operating hours are divided by season. From November through March, the ranch is open from 09:30 to 17:00 on both weekdays and weekends, with ticket sales closing at 16:00. In April and October, hours extend to 09:30–18:00, with ticket sales closing at 17:00. From May through September, when daylight lasts longer, it operates from 09:30 to 18:00 on weekdays, with ticket sales closing at 17:00, and from 09:30 to 19:00 on weekends, with ticket sales closing at 18:00, making evening visits possible during summer.

The regular closing day is every Tuesday, but the ranch opens as usual when Tuesday falls on a public holiday. It also operates normally on the day of Seollal, the day of Chuseok, and during the holiday periods. Tickets can only be purchased until one hour before closing, so visitors planning to arrive in the late afternoon should check the ticket-sales closing time first.

Admission: KRW 6,000, Including One Bundle of Hay for All the Animals

Admission is KRW 6,000 for visitors aged 24 months and older. A discounted ticket for Yangpyeong residents costs KRW 5,000, while infants under 24 months enter free. Visitors can purchase tickets on-site and enter immediately without an advance reservation. There is also no fixed viewing order, so guests can freely explore the ranch at their own pace as if taking a walk.

Each admission ticket includes one bundle of hay. The amount of hay in the bag is generous enough to feed not only the sheep but also several of the other animals at the ranch. Since admission, animal feeding, a pasture walk, and interaction with baby animals are all included without additional charges, visitors can complete the experience without making separate payments.

A Pasture with More Than 160 Sheep, Alpacas, and Ostriches

The ranch has more than 160 sheep. At the barns and playgrounds, visitors can meet various animals up close, including alpacas, ostriches, pigs, rabbits, geese, and chickens. Walking farther inside reveals a vast pasture where sheep graze freely.

A separate area for interacting with baby animals has been prepared so that even children who are afraid of larger animals can approach them easily. There are also photo spots throughout the ranch, making it a good place to take pictures. A café and resting areas offer simple food and drinks, allowing visitors to sit and take a break while viewing the animals.

Frisbee Performance by Leo the Sheepdog

One of the ranch's highlights is a performance by Leo, a border collie. Since there are no specialized institutions or trainers in Korea dedicated to training sheepdogs, O Eose trained Leo himself using overseas videos as references. Leo is not yet capable of herding sheep effectively, but he performs a frisbee routine in which he leaps into the air to catch a disc thrown by the owner.

The performance is held in the morning and afternoon on weekends or during group visits. To watch it, visitors must ride a tractor-drawn wagon to the playground near the walking path. Several visitor reviews have noted that Leo's movements were impressive as he caught the disc without missing it, even after it was thrown several times.

From Donkey Ranch Horseback Riding to Making Ice Cream and Pizza

In addition to feeding the sheep, visitors can take part in activities such as horseback riding at Donkey Ranch, tractor-wagon rides, ice cream making, pizza making, and baby-animal play. The ranch's introduction also emphasizes that it is an experience center designed to help children interact with plants and animals amid Yangpyeong's natural surroundings, surrounded by clear water and mountains.

Horseback riding and forest-path walks are also available, so visitors who feel that viewing the pasture alone is not enough can add activities to extend their itinerary. Additional fees may apply depending on the activity, so it is best to check the desired options at the ticket office in advance.

Seasonal Scenery: Pink Muhly in Autumn and Ice Sledding in Winter

According to the ranch's introduction, a pink muhly photo spot operates in autumn, while an ice-sledding area is available in winter, so the attractions vary by season. On summer weekends, operating hours extend until 19:00, allowing visitors to experience the atmosphere of the pasture after sunset. In winter, however, the ranch closes at 17:00, so visiting early in the morning is more relaxed because daylight is shorter.

In a winter visitor review posted in 2026, the writer explained why they chose this location instead of an indoor children's café and said they were satisfied because feeding the animals was included in the KRW 6,000 admission fee.

A Day Trip Combining Yongmun Mountain Tourist Site and Yongmun Millennium Market

Yangpyeong Sheep Ranch is generally within two hours by car from the Seoul metropolitan region and is approximately 16 km from Yangpyeong Station. Since Yongmun Mountain Tourist Site and Yongmun Millennium Market are nearby, it is easy to include the ranch in a day-trip itinerary. Natural activity spaces such as the Freshwater Fish Research Institute and Pulhyanggi Herb Country are also close by, making it practical to plan a full day with children.

It is also worth remembering that visitors can explore the market stalls if they time their visit to coincide with the dates when the Yongmun five-day market is held.

Pre-Visit Checklist — Large-Dog Restrictions and Rainy-Weather Preparation

Pets are allowed, but large dogs are restricted from entering. Even when bringing a small dog, it is best to prepare safety equipment such as a leash in advance. Tickets can also be purchased through Naver Reservations, but on-site purchases are available as well, so visiting without a reservation is not a problem.

Most of the pasture consists of dirt and grass, so shoes can easily get wet the day after rain. Some areas also have little shade during summer, making it advisable to bring a hat or parasol. Aside from checking the regular Tuesday closing day in advance, visitors can plan their visit on other days by referring to the seasonal operating schedule.
