From Suwon Art Center in 1999 to Manseok Exhibition Hall in 2021

Suwon Museum of Art Manseok Exhibition Hall is a public exhibition space that was completed as the 'Suwon Art Center' on December 21, 1999, and opened on the 29th of the same month. On January 14, 2000, the establishment and operation ordinance was enacted, and on September 7, 2005, it was registered with the Gyeonggi-do Museum Association.

This venue was operated under consignment by the Suwon Branch of the Korea Fine Arts Association from August 2003 to June 2017, and then by the Suwon Cultural Foundation starting in July 2017. After transitioning to the Exhibition Hall Operations Division system of the Suwon Museum of Art in September 2019, the name was changed from 'Suwon Art Center' to 'Suwon Museum of Art Manseok Exhibition Hall' on September 28, 2021.

The Suwon Museum of Art operates several venues together: the Main Building at Haenggung Square, the Manseok Exhibition Hall in Manseok Park, the Buksuwon Exhibition Hall in Pajang-dong, and Art Space Gwanggyo in Gwanggyo. A 3,118㎡ Building Shaped After Suwon Hwaseong Fortress

The building was designed to embody Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, which is considered a masterpiece of modern fortress architecture, and was completed in 1999. The site area is 3,118㎡, and the total floor area of the two-story reinforced concrete building is 1,409.22㎡.

The first floor, measuring 820.62㎡, houses the lobby, the main exhibition space (Exhibition Hall 1), an operation support office, a machine room, and restrooms. Exhibition Hall 1 has an area of 416.53㎡, making it the largest of the three exhibition halls.

The second floor measures 588.60㎡, with Exhibition Hall 2 and Exhibition Hall 3 facing each other across the central lobby. Exhibition Halls 2 and 3 are 125.62㎡ each. Additionally, there is a 62.81㎡ audiovisual room, a project space, an art shop, and a space for the Suwon Branch of the Korea Fine Arts Association.

March 24 – July 24, 2026: The Operating Style Left by 'Stardust Mystic Garden'

From March 24 to July 24, 2026, Part 1 of the participatory educational exhibition "Green Green Museum: Stardust Mystic Garden" was held in the Project Space on the second floor. Artists Jin Young and Team Arteco participated, and the exhibition was designed to allow visitors to experience their relationship with nature through materials such as forests, soil, grass, and sound.

The exhibition operated from Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00–18:00, with the last entry at 17:30. Admission was free, and inquiries were directed to 031-5191-4246 for the exhibition and 031-5191-4114 for group exhibition commentaries for preschoolers.

Exhibition commentaries for general visitors were held on-site from Tuesday to Saturday at 16:00 and were not held on Sundays. It was announced that the interior could be crowded with group visits from Tuesday to Friday, 10:00–11:30, so for those wishing to view the works quietly, it is better to prioritize weekday afternoons or Sundays.

Even with 'Free and Open Admission,' Check the Closing Time for Each Exhibition

Special exhibitions at the Suwon Museum of Art Manseok Exhibition Hall have often been operated free of charge. The "22nd Century Relics Exhibition," held from January 7 to February 7, 2025, was free, as was the participatory project "Various and Mysterious___," held from August 15 to November 30, 2023.
