The Hoam Museum of Art is a museum in Yongin that opened in 1982 based on the Korean art collection of Lee Byung-chull. To view both the exhibitions and the Heewon Traditional Garden, allow at least 2 hours and 30 minutes. Yongin Hoam Museum of Art, Started with Lee Byung-chul Collection in 1982

Hoam Museum of Art opened in 1982 based on Korean art pieces collected by Samsung founder Hoam Lee Byung-chul over approximately 30 years. In the early days, it hosted exhibitions of overseas modern and contemporary art, such as the <Henry Moore Exhibition> held from July 1 to August 15, 1982, but the central axis of the venue lies in its collection including Korean paintings, ceramics, metal crafts, and Buddhist art.

‘Hoam’ is a name derived from Lee Byung-chul's pen name. Because the museum building and gardens are arranged against the backdrop of the mountains and lakes in the Everland area of Pogok-eup, Yongin, it is not suitable for a schedule of just quickly viewing indoor exhibitions. To see the building, Heewon Garden, and outdoor works in one route, it is better to set aside 2 hours and 30 minutes to 3 hours.

Beopyeonji Pond and Hoamjeong Pavilion in Heewon Garden, Appreciation Beyond the Exhibition Hall

Heewon, the traditional garden of the Hoam Museum of Art, is a separate space that completes the museum visit. ‘Heewon’ is a name using the characters ‘Hee’ (熙) meaning shining and ‘Won’ (園) meaning garden, and the garden is composed in the ‘Chagyeong’ style, which draws in the surrounding mountain ranges and distant scenery. Hoamjeong, the main pavilion of the garden, is a Hanok pavilion named after Lee Byung-chul's pen name.

Beopyeonji (法蓮池) is the central water space of Heewon. During the season when lotus flowers bloom, the viewing route around the pond becomes longer, so if you have a reserved exhibition time, it is better to separate your entry and exit times rather than starting too ambitiously with the garden. After rain or in midwinter, the condition of outdoor stairs and walking paths may change, so comfortable sneakers are suitable.

  • Key points of Heewon: Hoamjeong Pavilion, Beopyeonji Pond, the two main lawns
  • Garden viewing includes outdoor movement
  • For wheelchair and stroller accessible sections and detour routes, it is recommended to inquire before visiting

Viewing Days 10:00–18:00, Keep Mondays and Holidays Free

According to the public guide, the viewing hours are 10:00–18:00, and ticket sales close at 17:00. The museum is closed every Monday, January 1st, Lunar New Year's Day, and Chuseok Day. Since viewing conditions may vary depending on exhibition change periods and events, it is safer for visitors from abroad to check the official reservation page before entering the country and the day before the visit.

Admission tickets for each exhibition are not always the same. The 2023 exhibition <Like a Lotus Undefiled by Mud> was operated with a general admission of 14,000 KRW, 7,000 KRW for young adults/university (graduate) students/youths/those aged 65 and over, and free for children aged 6 and under/disabled persons and one guardian/national merit recipients/Munhwa Nuri Card holders. Therefore, do not assume it is 'always free' or 'always 14,000 KRW,' but check the price and discount eligibility on the reservation page for the exhibition on the day of your visit.

  • Viewing Hours: 10:00–18:00
  • Ticket Sales Close: 17:00
  • Regular Closing: Every Monday
  • Additional Closings: January 1, Seollal (Lunar New Year), Chuseok (Harvest Festival)

Everland Station Exit 3 and the Last Leg of the Hoam Museum Shuttle

For public transport, Everland Station (Yongin Light Rail) Exit 3 is an easy reference point. It is known to move to the Everland route bus stop about 300m away from the station and then check the shuttle/circulation transportation towards the Hoam Museum of Art. Since operating times and boarding locations can change depending on the season and event days, it is necessary to check both real-time map apps and official announcements.

There have been cases where free pre-reservation shuttles were operated between Leeum Museum of Art in Hannam-dong, Seoul, and the Hoam Museum of Art, and as of the 2023 guide, it was twice a day from Tuesday to Friday and Sunday. This route should not be regarded as a regular means of transportation guaranteed on all dates. For public transport travel, calculate generously including transfer and waiting times, and when returning home, check the last connection before the museum closes.

  • Closest Rail Point: Yongin Light Rail Everland Station Exit 3
  • To the nearby shuttle stop: Approx. 300m, introduced as a 6-minute walk
  • Leeum–Hoam Shuttle: Check the necessity of pre-reservation and operating days in official announcements

1,500 KRW Parking per 30 Minutes and Time Calculation in the Everland Area

The parking fee shown in the 2023 viewing guide is 1,500 KRW per 30 minutes, with a daily maximum of 15,000 KRW. Car users should consider the waiting time for exit and the traffic volume in the surrounding Everland area in addition to the 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours of museum viewing time. On weekends and public holidays, traffic may overlap with theme park visitors, so it is better to aim for the first viewing session in the morning or avoid tight schedules like entering one hour before closing.

The address is '38, Everland-ro 562beon-gil, Pogok-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do.' Enter 'Hoam Museum of Art' and the road name address together in the navigation system, and leave at least 20–30 minutes of buffer between the entry time and the exhibition start time when making a reservation. Parking operation methods and discount availability may vary depending on the exhibition or event.

  • Parking Fee Example: 1,500 KRW per 30 minutes
  • Daily Max Fee Example: 15,000 KRW
  • Recommended Stay: 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours including exhibition and Heewon
  • Recommended Buffer for Car Visitors: Arrive 20–30 minutes earlier than the reservation time

National Treasure Celadon Gourd-shaped Ewer and Priority for Exhibition Reservations

The Hoam Collection includes National Treasure No. 133, ‘Celadon Gourd-shaped Ewer with Inlaid Lotus and Copper-red Decoration.’ However, being part of the collection does not mean it is on display every time. Since availability depends on preservation, loans, and exhibition planning, if you are targeting a specific work, you should check the ‘Current Exhibition’ list and the artwork list on the same day.

From March 17 to June 28, 2026, <Kim Yun Shin: Together in Harmony, Separated in Unity> was held at the Hoam Museum of Art. As the dates and viewing methods of special exhibitions like this change, current operation status and exhibition names should be determined by official announcements tailored to the visit date. Visitors who are not familiar with Korean should capture the date, session, number of people, and cancellation policy on the reservation screen and save the on-site inquiry number 031-320-1801~2.

For Travelers Finding Heewon Stairs and Outdoor Routes Burdensome

Hoam Museum of Art is not just a place to see a single exhibition hall on flat ground, but a place to move between indoor exhibitions and outdoor gardens. Visitors who need to consider mobility aids, strollers, knee pain, or walking issues on rainy days should call to check accessible entrances, elevators, restrooms, and garden detours before making a reservation. It is safer not to expect accessibility information on-site that cannot be confirmed beforehand.

For those who want to focus on the exhibition, it is efficient to view the indoor exhibits first immediately after opening at 10:00 and then move to Heewon when the weather is stable. Conversely, for travelers who find the stairs and walking in the garden burdensome or have less than an hour to stay at the museum, actual satisfaction may be higher if you choose only that day's exhibition rather than rushing through both the exhibition and the garden.

  • Recommended 2 hours 30 minutes or more if viewing both indoor and outdoor areas
  • Walking conditions in Heewon may change during rain, cold waves, or heatwaves
  • Pre-inquiry is recommended at 031-320-1801~2 for accessibility details
  • Pre-inquiry about foreign language guide availability is also recommended before visiting
