Hangang Museum, Opened at the Foot of Yebongsan Mountain in September 2019

Hangang Museum is a private contemporary art museum located at 30, Gyeonggang-ro 926beon-gil, Wabu-eup, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, and opened in September 2019. Namyangju-si tourism guides introduce this place as a museum that connects art, space, and people by addressing contemporary social issues through exhibitions under the slogan ‘Open the Door.’

It is located along the Han River past Paldang Dam and Paldang Bridge. Yebongsan Mountain is known to be 688.8m above sea level, and Geomdansan Mountain opposite is 658.3m above sea level. The museum is situated in the Paldang-ri area, where the two mountains and the Han River water system meet. Therefore, it is better suited for a schedule that includes understanding the riverside of Paldang and historical sites related to Jeong Yak-yong rather than just visiting the museum alone.

From 1F Gallery to 4F Rooftop, Decide the Elevator Route First

Hangang Museum is organized into the 1st Exhibition Hall on the 1st floor, the 2nd Exhibition Hall, Experience Zone, and Art Shop on the 2nd floor, a Lounge, Education Room, and Seminar Room on the 3rd floor, and a Rooftop on the 4th floor. If you want to quickly finish viewing the exhibition, focus on the 1st and 2nd floors; if you have plans for experience programs or rest, you can plan a route up to the 3rd floor.

The 4th-floor rooftop is a floor where you can feel the terrain along the Han River, but usage conditions may change due to rain, strong winds, or event rentals. Foreign visitors or users of strollers and wheelchairs should inquire in advance via the main phone number regarding the availability of elevators, ramps, restrooms, and rooftop access. Specific conditions for permanent foreign language docents and accessibility facilities are not confirmed in the public official information.

6 Minutes from Gangbyeon-maul Entrance by Taking Bus 50 from Paldang Station

Public transportation is easy to plan based on Paldang Station on the Gyeongui-Jungang Line. Namyangju-si guides suggest a route of transferring to general bus No. 50 at Paldang Station, getting off at the ‘Gangbyeon-maul Entrance’ stop, and then walking for about 6 minutes. Since the walking time is based on the stop, it is better to allow extra time on rainy days or if you have luggage.

For private cars, a route from Hanam IC across Paldang Bridge toward Guri/Namyangju is introduced on the Namyangju-si tourism page. Since the latest figures for parking availability, fees, and the number of parking spaces were not confirmed in the public official information, you should inquire at 031-577-2977 before departing. Especially on weekends when it is open 11:00–22:00, public transportation or carpooling is worth considering as returning traffic may overlap.

  • Rail: Paldang Station (Gyeongui-Jungang Line)
  • Transfer Bus: General Bus No. 50
  • Get Off: Gangbyeon-maul Entrance
  • Walk from Stop: Approx. 6 minutes
  • Road Name Address: 30, Gyeonggang-ro 926beon-gil, Wabu-eup, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi-do

《Today, Still Preparing》 March 25 – September 13, 2026

The 2026 Museum and Art Museum Support Project exhibition, "Today, Still Preparing," will be held at Hangang Museum from March 25 to September 13, 2026. This exhibition was introduced with the intention of shedding light on the lives of modern people in a state of never-ending preparation and providing an opportunity for emotional reflection.

Hangang Museum has previously presented projects such as 'The Path of Contemplation,' which connects the path of Jeong Yak-yong's return from exile with the time of 2020. Given the context of connecting regional historical figures with contemporary art in a location close to the Jeong Yak-yong Historic Site and Silhak Museum in Joan-myeon, Namyangju, it is appropriate to visit after checking the current exhibition, related programs, artists, and reservation status on the website's exhibition page.

A Day in Paldang Connecting Praum Musical Instrument Museum (2.3km) and Jeong Yak-yong Historic Site (8.3km)

In the Namyangju waterside travel route introduced by the Korea Tourism Organization, the distance from Praum Musical Instrument Museum to Hangang Museum is presented as 2.3km, about 5 minutes by car. From Hangang Museum to the Jeong Yak-yong Historic Site is 8.3km, about 15 minutes by car. The Jeong Yak-yong Historic Site and Silhak Museum are about 100m or 1 minute on foot, and the Silhak Museum and Dasan Eco Park are about 300m or 4 minutes on foot.

Therefore, it is possible to configure a schedule to see the Praum Musical Instrument Museum or Water Garden in the morning, the Hangang Museum exhibition and rooftop in the afternoon, and then move on to the Jeong Yak-yong Historic Site and Silhak Museum. Conversely, if you plan to see the art museum until late on a weekend night, you must first check the separate closing days and closing times of the Jeong Yak-yong Historic Site and Silhak Museum; a schedule trying to see both by starting late on the same day may not be suitable.

  • Praum Musical Instrument Museum → Hangang Museum: 2.3km, approx. 5 minutes by car
  • Hangang Museum → Jeong Yak-yong Historic Site: 8.3km, approx. 15 minutes by car
  • Jeong Yak-yong Historic Site → Silhak Museum: 100m, approx. 1 minute on foot
  • Silhak Museum → Dasan Eco Park: 300m, approx. 4 minutes on foot
