[Exclusive] ILLIT to Make a Comeback in October… Following the “It’s Me” Craze, They Aim to Cement Their Status as the “Public’s Pick”

Girl group ILLIT is challenging the public vote once again.

According to World Biz & Sports World coverage on the 11th, ILLIT will make a comeback with a new album in October. It will be the group's first new release in approximately six months since the release of its fourth mini album, ‘MAMIHLAPINATAPAI,’ in April.

ILLIT was formed through the survival audition show ‘R U NEXT?,’ which aired in 2023. True to the meaning of its team name, ‘a group with the potential to become anything,’ the group has continued its activities while delivering an enterprising message. Beginning with its debut song ‘Magnetic,’ released in March 2024, ILLIT has pursued activities based on addictive music, following it with ‘Cherish,’ ‘NOT CUTE ANYMORE,’ and ‘It’s Me.’

Through the new album, the group will once again attempt to create a hit song to follow ‘It’s Me.’ ILLIT expanded its appeal beyond its fandom with the title track ‘It’s Me’ from its previous album, ‘MAMIHLAPINATAPAI.’ Its addictive techno-based melody and choreography spread various memes and challenges, while the message, ‘Your favorite is me!’ delivered without hesitation appealed to the tastes of Generation Z as well as people of all ages and genders, spreading ILLIT’s charm.

With this song, the group reached No. 2 on Melon’s Top 100 and No. 1 on major music charts including Bugs, Genie, and FLO. It also set a new personal best for the group by reaching No. 26 on Billboard’s main album chart, the Billboard 200.

‘It’s Me’ is still enjoying long-term chart success even now, five months after its release. Expectations are high for what genre and performance ILLIT, which has steadily drawn an upward growth curve since its debut, will showcase in its new release.

This is an opportunity to firmly establish itself as the public’s favorite. Before its comeback, ILLIT will hold encore concerts titled ‘PRESS START?♥’ at Inspire Arena in Incheon on October 17–18. After embarking from Seoul in March and carrying out a tour across seven global cities with a total of 15 shows, ILLIT is scheduled to bring the tour to a finale in Chiba in December, following its run in South Korea. As the concerts will take place shortly before the comeback, attention is also focused on whether performances of new songs will be unveiled at the Incheon shows.
